Maybe this team just isn't as good as some thought. If Meeks doesn't score 54, I don't think they beat Tennessee. They struggled to beat Florida Atlantic. They beat Vandy without Oglivy. I think Kentucky's just been playing with fool's gold and the mine isn't as rich as some think.[/Quote]

Wow! we are all overrated when a team can pack it in on us. I can remember when the folks at LSU were saying that about Shaq when everyone in the SEC would colapse on him when he would get the ball in the post.

I am not saying that Patterson is anywhere close to Shaquille, but you can ask any college coach in america if Patterson could start for them and the answer would be a resounding YES.

Patterson is solid. But I honestly think he needs to stay at UK to develop his game for the NBA. The level of post-defense in the NBA will far outweigh the collapsing he's experiencing at the college level.

For Pat to excel in the pros, he has to develop a much better 10-12 foot shot. And, like Chuck Hayes before him, he'll have to be a blue-collar type that earns his playing time on effort & tenacity and not sheer talent.

Patterson is not solid. He is shooting 60 % from the floor and averaging 18 pts a game 4 to 6 free throws a game, that means he is hitting 5 shots a game out 9 .Why is that?

G) We have nothing arriving in the future to address ANY of our scoring needs.

We're in shambles right now, and there is nothing on the radar indicating we'll be anything but that in the near future.

Hood can light it up from the outside....:idunno:

I agree. No way is Patterson ready to play at the NBA level till he can hit a jump shot from the FT line. He shoots 80% from the charity stripe, you would think he should be able to hit a jumper.

Many of the shots last night seemed to have been passed up. It sure seemed like they have been coached to not take many of the shots that were passed up.

Patterson creates no angles by pinning his man on his hip so the gaurds can feed him the ball.He has no left hand and fakes no body. Its his responsibility to move in the lane and create those angles.several times last night he was in a 3 foot space in the lane during the whole offensive posession. Its not the guards fault.I have never seen him flash to the ball

Depends on whether he is coached to do as you say or to do as he is doing.

At this stage of the game he should know how to score and how to get open.He is at ky. you shouldnt have to teach those fundementals..this all stems from aau basketball you dont learn how to play basketball by playing 4 games a day everyday of the summer

PP is never going to be a star by himself. He had Mayo in high school and now Meeks.
Patrick Patterson was a star long before O.J. Mayo came back to Huntington. Maybe it was Patterson's presence that brought Mayo back.

Patterson already shoots well from 15 in.

When you are 6'9 playing in h.s. it is easy to get by on pure physical size and lack of fundementals. These recruiting gurus are impressed by the dunk..99 % have never played so how can they evaluate talent.I can tell you how...they cant

So is he just not allowed to shoot it? Cause they pass up a lot of shots around the free throw line.

These guys need to be in the gym alone 2 or 3 hrs a day working on shooting and drills master those and then and only then take them to a game and apply it there...This aau is destroying basketball
