Mustang Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 A bit of a sloppy match. Both teams showed the effects of being off for the best part of the week. Setty played with better intensity in looking to score than the previous games that I had witnessed where he was somewhat passive. He was the man tonight both inside and outside (Three 3s that I know of) and was the recipient of some great assist work. Middleton was strapped with foul trouble and spent most of the second half taking in the game from the sidelines. Jolly, Nerl, and Ben Franzen did their best. Petey Albrecht went out just before the half with what appeared to be an ankle injury, and didn't return in the second half. Hopefully, this weather situation will straighten up and we can get back to some semblance of normalacy.
mcpapa Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 I thought that Mason County got a BUNCH of easy baskets in this one. Two putbacks on missed free throws, plus several layups. Maybe some of that can be attributed to Albrecht's absence. Lots of foul trouble for the Royals tonight; in addition to Middleton's woes, Downing picked up two early ones, sat the last 10 minutes or so of the first half, and eventually fouled out (right after Franzen). Always nice to put a face to a BGP username. I wish we had had more time to chat, but yes Mustang, LaRosa's was tasty as always.:thumb:

ladiesbballcoach Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 Has to be disappointing for the Camels as I have heard a bunch about them being one of the top teams in the 10th region and Mason seemed to handle them by that final score.
16thBBall Fan Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 Looks like Mason is staring to play better with Clarks injuries may be the team to beat in the 10th.

I am embarassed to say that I have never watched a game at Brossart. I shall attempt to rectify that on the 17th. Setty has really stepped up the past few games. CC didn't have an answer for him this evening.

I dont think many teams this month have had an answer for Setty. From what I have read, and one game Ive seen, he has really improved from earlier in the season. I knew he had a great amount of potential, but I wasnt expecting him to put up numbers his sophmore year like he has the past month. Great to see him playing well.
mcpapa Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 How many did Middleton have? Not a bunch, he may have had as many assists as points in this one. Found Setty and/or Pawsat under the basket a few times in the game. Props to Hamm for hitting the two treys in the first half while the game was still fairly close. Pretty much a 9-man rotation. Hamm, Gilbert, and the two Langs off the bench; with Justin Lang getting a lot of time. Mason JV won real big, by just over 20.
