I went to the game today and here are my thoughts...

Ferguson looked really good again today, particularly in the first half. Number 11 on Pineville's team was a nice looking shooter. Elliott played one great quarter (the 2nd) and then kind of cruised the rest of the way. They appeared to be taking it easy in the 2nd half. There was an interesting call when Ferguson followed a shot for a dunk attempt and was called for a technical. The refs determined that he was hanging on the rim with one hand while reaching for the ball with the other hand. Elliott's guards took the game over in the paint, believe it or not. They controlled the inside the whole game. Tomorrow morning will be a great game.

This was my first Elliott experience this year and I came away thinking one thing...Timmy Knipp is the slowest moving human being in the world when the clock isn't running. My goodness it took forever for him to walk to the bench, to the foul line, to inbound the ball, etc. It doesn't really matter in the grand scheme of things, but I tend to like seeing a little hop in the step!

I was very impressed with Ferguson. He can score from anywhere at any time. He might have been most impressive with his toughness in the paint. The Faulkner kids are both outstanding and will be good college players. The other guard, ? Knipp, seems to play well within himself. He's obviously the fifth scorer and he doesn't force anything, but he can really play.

Finally, I thought the first three off the bench for Elliott were solid as well. Certainly the Lions will take a step back next year, but they've got some talent left to build on.

One thing I don't like about Elliott (and its probably just because I was coached a different way) is that they don't hustle off the floor. I don't like seeing a player walk slowly off the floor after a substitution. I was coached to hustle off.

Glad to hear you say that. Many people are predicting gloom and despair for next season. You're right, we will keep a lower profile, but there is no reason to sink into a deep depression.

Talked to his dad last night and Timmy has been sick all week. Could that have something to do with it?

Timmy has a severe sinus infection, and is very sick! He showed a lot of heart and played anyway today!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for the info. That makes more sense. He just seemed zoned out at times. When the ball was in play, however, he played really hard. I'm glad to hear it's illness and not attitude and hopefully he'll be feeling much better for a big day tomorrow.
