Chris was introduced at the NL vs SL game at North Laurel tonight as the new coach after the 1st quarter.

 

I spoke with him briefly at halftime. He is very excited about this opportunity but knows he has his work cut out for him. 'Wildfire' will have an interesting game in week 7 versus his HS coach, the man he learned the game from and his father Tom Larkey when NL plays Harlan County.

I don't know, he's been with him a long time, but Coach Tom is a tried and true ground and pounder and if you do that right it's hard stop even if you know it's coming.

 

Mama Larkey might just have to listen to Bll Ellis on the radio for that one.

He doesn't need time or practice, he will win and win quick.

He comes from the Rock and don't know any other way.

 

Should have been a head coach a lot sooner than this, I'd be happy with a kid of mine playing for this coach any time.

I would let my son or grandson play for him anyday. He has seen how it is done from the inside, and when Tom took over at the Rock, that program was in much worse shape than North Laurel is right now. He has his work cut out for him, but I believe he is the right man for the job!

It looks like the staff is starting to come together. Here are the names I am hearing as assistants.

- Slade (coming onto staff as D-coordinator, moving from Memphis, GREAT hire if this is accurate. NL tried to get him a few years ago but did not have a teaching job)

If they can win more than 2, and I think they will, ... it will be an improvement over this past season. Adding Harlan Co definitely makes the schedule more difficult.
