January 30, 200917 yr This was my attempt at a realignment. Schools in red moved regions, schools in blue moved districts within the same region, and bolded schools are new schools. R1 D1 - Carlisle County, Fulton City, Fulton County, Hickman County R1 D2 - Ballard Memorial, McCracken County, Paducah Tilghman, St. Mary R1 D3 - Calloway County, Graves County, Mayfield, Murray R1 D4 - Community Christian, Livingston Central, Lyon County, Marshall County R2 D5 - Caldwell County, Crittenden County, Trigg County, Union County R2 D6 - Henderson County, McLean County, Providence, Webster County R2 D7 - Dawson Springs, Hopkins County Central, Madisonville-North Hopkins, Todd County Central R2 D8 - Christian County, Fort Campbell, Hopkinsville, University Heights R3 D9 - Apollo, Daviess County, Owensboro, Owensboro Catholic R3 D10 - Butler County, Logan County, Muhlenberg County, Russellville R3 D11 - Breckinridge County, Frederick Fraize, Hancock County, Meade County R3 D12 - Grayson County, Hart County, Ohio County, Trinity (Whitesville) R4 D13 - Allen County-Scottsville, Edmonson County, Franklin-Simpson, South Warren R4 D14 - Bowling Green, Greenwood, Warren Central, Warren East R4 D15 - Barren County, Glasgow, Metcalfe County, Monroe County R4 D16 - Adair County, Clinton County, Cumberland County, Russell County R5 D17 - Central Hardin, Elizabethtown, John Hardin, North Hardin R5 D18 - Caverna, Fort Knox, Green County, Larue County R5 D19 - Bardstown, Bethlehem, Nelson County, Washington County R5 D20 - Campbellsville, Casey County, Marion County, Taylor County ..... I know in the 4th Region that while I moved the Logan County schools out (which geographically makes sense), I have a hard time believing those schools would accept that given that Russellville has been with the rest of the 4th Region schools since there were regions, and the predecessors to Logan County were as well. I think in the end you will see at least 1 three team district, and that may be better for everyone involved really.

January 30, 200917 yr Always wondered why Augusta and Bracken don't join together. This would make them alot stronger in athletics.
January 30, 200917 yr Didn't Providence close? Awwww man.... And it worked so well. I was going off the alignment they had posted on KHSAA, and I didn't notice that. Just furthers my belief that there will be three team districts. After all, that one already is.

January 30, 200917 yr Below is something I worked on. It's far from great and the 3rd Region became a huge problem. After the Bullitts were moved out of the 6th I simply rearranged the 6th, so it isn't much different. Regions 7-16 were not touched. As was done earlier, blue teams moved districts within region, while red teams are completely new to region. Region 1 District 1: Carlisle County, Fulton City, Fulton County, Hickman County District 2: Ballard Memorial, McCracken County, Paducah Tilghman, St. Mary District 3: Calloway County, Graves County, Mayfield, Murray District 4: Community Christian, Livingston Central, Lyon County, Marshall County Region 2 District 5: Caldwell County, Dawson Springs, Trigg County, University Heights District 6: Crittenden County, Henderson County, Union County, Webster County District 7: Hopkins County Central, Madisonville-North Hopkins, McLean County, Muhlenberg County District 8: Christian County, Fort Campbell, Hopkinsville, Todd County Central Region 3 District 9: Apollo, Daviess County, Owensboro, Owensboro Catholic District 10: Butler County, Logan County, Ohio County, Russellville District 11: Breckinridge County, Cloverport, Hancock County, Meade County, Whitesville Trinity District 12: Caverna, Edmonson County, Grayson County, Hart County Region 4 District 13: Allen County-Scottsville, Franklin-Simpson, Greenwood, South Warren District 14: Barren County, Bowling Green, Warren Central, Warren East District 15: Glasgow, Green County, Metcalfe County, Monroe County District 16: Adair County, Clinton County, Cumberland County, Russell County Region 5 District 17: Central Hardin, Elizabethtown, John Hardin, North Hardin District 18: Bullitt Central, Bullitt East, Fort Knox, North Bullitt District 19: Bardstown, Bethlehem, Nelson County, Washington County District 20: Campbellsville, Larue County, Marion County, Taylor County

My gut feeling is that they would never allow Barren County & Glasgow to be split up, and they would keep four Bowling Green teams in District 14. Now, what I could see happening is that Greenwood stays in the 14th, Barren stays in the 15th, Edmonson County moves into the 13th, Green County moves into the 12th. And it works out pretty well geographically as well.

Because of that, I figured my 3rd/4th regions might not be perfect. Realignment is a tough job, but as long as there are 256 schools in Kentucky, there should never be a 3-team district. If something has to be altered to make it work, then do it. And I think every poster in this thread has proven that it's possible.

January 30, 200917 yr Given that North Laurel and South Laurel are in different districts, I don't know that those county-system ties are all that sacred anymore. I think it's silly to have North Laurel & South Laurel in separate districts. I just think it would make no sense if it were at all avoidable to split teams up in the same county. For travel concerns if nothing else.
February 1, 200917 yr Always wondered why Augusta and Bracken don't join together. Isn't Augusta considered something along the lines of a private school and that's why they have never consolidated over the years?
February 1, 200917 yr This would make them alot stronger in athletics. School consolidations do not happen for athletics. Consolidating an independent school and a county school is different. 160.041 Merger of independent district with county district. Edited February 1, 200917 yr by AHSPanther23
