IMO that would accomplish what they want, but this and really just about any plan they can come up with is going to be a dramatic face lift and shatter a lot of longstanding groupings. I know in the 4th Region that while I moved the Logan County schools out (which geographically makes sense), I have a hard time believing those schools would accept that given that Russellville has been with the rest of the 4th Region schools since there were regions, and the predecessors to Logan County were as well. I think in the end you will see at least 1 three team district, and that may be better for everyone involved really.

Always wondered why Augusta and Bracken don't join together.

I was going off the alignment they had posted on KHSAA, and I didn't notice that. Just furthers my belief that there will be three team districts. After all, that one already is.

Below is something I worked on. It's far from great and the 3rd Region became a huge problem. After the Bullitts were moved out of the 6th I simply rearranged the 6th, so it isn't much different. Regions 7-16 were not touched.

My gut feeling is that they would never allow Barren County & Glasgow to be split up, and they would keep four Bowling Green teams in District 14. Now, what I could see happening is that Greenwood stays in the 14th, Barren stays in the 15th, Edmonson County moves into the 13th, Green County moves into the 12th. And it works out pretty well geographically as well.

I'm just not that familiar with that part of the state. I've been around there many times, but I don't know the geography that well. Because of that, I figured my 3rd/4th regions might not be perfect.

 

Realignment is a tough job, but as long as there are 256 schools in Kentucky, there should never be a 3-team district. If something has to be altered to make it work, then do it. And I think every poster in this thread has proven that it's possible.

Given that North Laurel and South Laurel are in different districts, I don't know that those county-system ties are all that sacred anymore.

I think it's silly to have North Laurel & South Laurel in separate districts.

 

I just think it would make no sense if it were at all avoidable to split teams up in the same county. For travel concerns if nothing else.
