mcpapa Posted January 29, 2009 Posted January 29, 2009 1. Iroquois 2. Manual 3. Franklin-Simpson 4. Montgomery County 5. North Hardin The Top 20
Les Posted January 29, 2009 Posted January 29, 2009 Rockcastle County gets no love again. Way too low.
chuckbarkley99 Posted January 29, 2009 Posted January 29, 2009 What happened to Rowan County. Still undefeated last time I checked.
LRCW Posted January 29, 2009 Posted January 29, 2009 What happened to Rowan County. Still undefeated last time I checked. Where were they ranked last week?
chuckbarkley99 Posted January 29, 2009 Posted January 29, 2009 I don't know,but they have to be better than 14th.
westsider Posted January 29, 2009 Posted January 29, 2009 I don't know,but they have to be better than 14th.Because?
mcpapa Posted January 29, 2009 Author Posted January 29, 2009 The Lady Vikings are a victim of a relatively weak schedule. They did defeat the one "marquee" team on their schedule (Manual). The schedule does pick up, with games against Lexington Catholic, LCA and Montgomery County in the next couple of weeks. Rowan was ranked 16th in last week's BGP poll.
mcpapa Posted January 29, 2009 Author Posted January 29, 2009 Wonder why SK isn't ranked?? A case could be made for SK, especially after getting by Highlands in their last game.
mcpapa Posted January 29, 2009 Author Posted January 29, 2009 Rockcastle County gets no love again. Way too low. A case can be made for RC also. They're on a nice roll.
liveblue4ever Posted January 29, 2009 Posted January 29, 2009 SK also beat Rockcastle early in the season without the best player in the area in Tolliver.
paNDA Posted January 29, 2009 Posted January 29, 2009 I wonder if anyone cares to tell us the process the BGP's selections are made. Computer? Committee? Regardless it is very tough to select teams and there will always be someone unhappy with the list but it would be interesting to know the process.
theguru Posted January 29, 2009 Posted January 29, 2009 I wonder if anyone cares to tell us the process the BGP's selections are made. Computer? Committee? Regardless it is very tough to select teams and there will always be someone unhappy with the list but it would be interesting to know the process. This comes up from time to time, I answered it in the boys forum about three weeks ago: The members of the BGP staff (which is made up of coaches, media members, and high school basketball experts) vote on the rankings. After we vote on the rankings, we then debate the rankings and we all have to defend and justify our votes to each of the staff members before making a final determination on the order of the teams. In other words, you could say our rankings are part art and part science. We believe the process of not only voting but defending the vote among other educated peers makes our rankings the most accurate rankings in Kentucky.
Big Daddy Bear Posted January 29, 2009 Posted January 29, 2009 Would also agree with the thinking that Rowan would be ranked higher. But then Utah didn't play for a National Championship either, go figure. Thanks to The Guru for clearing up the ranking procedure. I was wondering myself. Really like the "Defend Your Pick" idea. Bet that leads to some great discussions.
nkyvbfan Posted January 30, 2009 Posted January 30, 2009 SK also beat Rockcastle early in the season without the best player in the area in Tolliver. Not taking anything away from Tolliver, but there are alot of good players in the area.
