Trouble in Raider Land?

Featured Replies

Watts has taken a team anywhere! He has not proven he can win at any level in the post season. Baseball, Football or Basketball. All three have the same number of wins with Watts in post season. ( 0 ) past two years!

He did get a district and region win as a 8th grader. Back win sports were important to him.

He has been to the playoffs in football by beating Madison Southern 1-9 and 0-10. Thats like getting in district tournament.

Agreed!! Watts, Coach Jones, and the rest of the Raiders should be playing and coaching with a chip on their shoulder. They should be hungry for some post season success. If they don't then they will be beat the 1st game of the District again..

Being an outsider looking in, it seems like the Raiders don't get along with each other. If that is the case that could explain their problems going into the last stretch of the season. I could be wrong but in the few games I've seen them play it appeared that way to me.

I think it's more than not getting along, I don't think the players like each other. I don't think they like or respect their Coach. I don't think the Coaches in the System get along with each other. I don't think any of them like the AD. From the outside looking in ,the whole Sports Program needs a re-work.:isurrender:

Isn't the head basketball coach also the AD down there?

This is the story I am hearing also. Coaches are not getting along or are not on the same page and the players dont and have not bought in for whatever reason. Sometimes its just time for a different direction.

If Jones had not of had Watts and his brother he would not have won 25% of his games since he has been coach. Jones from what I hear basically lets Watts do what he wants and the rest get the hard line. That why the respect is a issue.:ohbrother:

Jones didn't win many games with Aaron's brother, but that is besides the point.

I have been hearing rumors, and thank my sources who have let me know these, that possibly candidates interested in this job should it come open are a couple of McCreary folks and..

A rumor that Tim Pyles from the Wayne County girls side is interested in switching sides and coaching the McCreary boys... take it for what it's worth. Everything is a rumor.

Tim Stephens and Roscoe Denny are two McCreary coaches who come to mind if things change over that way IMO

Nothing needs to change. You all are acting like they have gobs of talent. They have one very good high school basketball player that matured at an early age. They have a solid supporting cast around him but its not like the coach goes in every day and has this all state cast to compete with like scott county, holmes, etc. do. Since when did McCreary become expected to win every game and have such pressure on the coach? Give it a rest. Let the man do his job and quit trying to do it for him. Good luck Raiders.

I don't see how Coach Jones is under the radar because when I was school, we always had better talent, but he'd seem to find a way to beat us come district playoffs.

I don't know why the guy would want to stay with all of these loons out there. I am sure these are the same people who call the Coach Billy G show and tell him how to coach and recruit.

I have been in McCreary County for 22 years and I have never seen a coach get fired because they were losing games (so drop the subject). So, if everyone who is a McCreary Raider or fan wants this team to be successful my suggestion is to be positive so the kids can see that everyone is supporting them and the coaching staff. This may just get the kids to rally together and have a good run in the district and regional tournaments. Remember MC fans, there is an old saying that is very, very true "Together We Stand, Divided We Fall"! I think it is time for the athletic community to stand together for the benifit of our athletes! If we all can do this I think all of our athletic programs will thrive and be successful. Go get'em Raiders!

I think everyone wants to win, and I think even if they disliked Jones or whomever, they would still want the Raiders to win. That's not what we're saying. I, more than anyone, would like to see them be successful year in and year out with Jones or whomever else coaches them. I have nothing against Jones, and like him personally, but these are just the "rumors" I am hearing...

Send him to Stanford, I believe we would be more than happy to have him.

I heard this also. Watts is running the team and I hear lots of parents as well as the board members are not sitting well. I think regardless of the politics, this will be his last year, just because he has had so much talent and cannot get it done.

How so? Didn't they sit him down for being late for a practice or game? This kid seems to want to win as much as anyone.
