Why I Didn't Vote, And Never Will, For Obama

Featured Replies

I know the story. Our professor told us all about it during Constitutional Law. I just don't see how it will be changed, if it wasn't then. I hope that it is, but the stars had aligned and it still couldn't overturn Roe v. Wade.

Stars were not aligned as too many liberal justices were on the bench.

Put 1-2 more conservatives on there, and the election of O hurts that chance tremendously, and it is overturned.

I do not see how any CHristian can vote for a pro choice candidate and really think that God won't care about that vote and their support of killing unborn babies come Judgement Day.

How does any Christian vote for the state to kill people? How does any Christian justify the use of war for non holy issues?

I see it a bit differently.

Personally, I couldn't ever vote for a Pro-Abortion Rights candidate (BTW, you really should stop using Pro-Choice, IMO it is inaccurate compared to Pro-Abortion Rights). I also can't understand a Christian (or anyone) voting because of a candidate's support of widespread abortion rights.

However, I can understand a Christian voting for a candidate in spite of a candidate's position on the issue. There are other moral issues out there- poverty, war, discrimination, death penalty, euthanasia, etc.- and, to some, those issues may outweigh abortion. Now, it certainly doesn't for me, but it's hard to say who is right and who is wrong- only the Lord above knows for sure.

And I must say, the great thing about God is that he does not fault us for being wrong or right, but only when we don't try to know what is right. Because if we were treated as we deserved, I don't think any of us would make it. :thumb:

What I would like to know is how many of you all support the death penalty?? I believe God says that vengeance is his, right. So how can we put someone to death for murder?? I hate to be the person who orders that or the people, usually pro-life, who support that.

I believe a person, whether it's good or bad, has a right to do whatever they want to their body. Let that person be judged when the time comes. You know one of the guys on the cross next to Christ was saved and had lived a whole life of sins. The funny thing here is how many of you all on here would have a problem with your kids dating or marrying someone of another race, color, creed and religion. There is a lot of quote and unquote Christians that kick their kids out of the house or disown their kids if this happens. If you are one of them, you all make me laugh. God is the same no matter what, how many of us are.

So Parker, your reason for not voting for Obama really holds no weight. Give us the real reason and before you do (and I hope you are honest here and don't try to save face) would you have a problem if one of your kids did this and do you believe in the death penalty??

Of course it holds weight, why would it not?

Scoutschoice, I voted for Obama and would not let the right to choose (or however anyone wants to label it) be THE reason I vote for or against a candidate. However, most of those in this forum that do, do so not hypocritically as you state. Please post with these people a little more before you come across with statements that hint at assumed racial double standards. You are making some unfounded judgments here. People sometimes see things very differently and have the right to do so.

What the heck does race have to do with this thread? :idunno:

So what you're insinuating here is that the reason people didn't vote for Obama is because of race? Wow, how you can leap to those types of absurd conclusions based off this thread is insane.

:thumb: Well said.

Hold on here guys you aren't understanding what I'm saying here. How can we, as it has been said on this topic, put I hope the issue with God will haunt you in a sense. I'm not quoting it but ladiesbbcoach said something to the matter. I just wonder if ladies and a lot of others believe in the death penalty. Also with Parker if it's about abortion, that you didn't vote for Obama, then do you believe in the death penalty. What I'm saying is that a lot of people don't like Obama for the very reason of his skin color. They pick and pick at things for the mere fact of him being black but if you don't like him for abortion then you can't like the death penalty. Now for the race thing, it is so lets be forreal about this. All I'm saying that a lot of self proclaimed christians are hyprocrites also.

So once again you're saying that anyone who voted against Obama is a racist. That's one of the most ridiculous insulting things I've ever read on here.

Admittedly, there are some that fall in the categories that you mentioned. However, you need to spend time corresponding with the people on this site before you make these judgments about them. They don't fall in these categories. Your assumptions make it more difficult for those of us that did vote for and support Obama. There are certainly MANY people that did not vote for Obama for reasons that had NOTHING to do with racial issues.

As for the abortion/death penalty issue, we have debated that issue time and again. Let me give you the basics of the argument for people that are opposed to permitting abortion but agree with the use of the death penalty. (Note that I do not fall in this category.) Abortion stops the heart of an innocent child, while the death penalty is used against those that have made choices that carry penalties that they are aware of. They have taken the life of someone else and, thus, forfeited their life based on our laws.

So, you are for the legalization of drugs?

So, you would be for the legalization of full term babies to be aborted?

So, you would for the police/EMT providing no services to a person who has tried to commit suicide but they did not succeed and laying their dying?

So, you are for the legaization of prostitution?

All are ways that we, as a society, put limitations on what a person can do with their body.

Yes I would be for in favor of legalizing drugs. Ladies, lets not kid ourselves here, the government isn't worried about drugs hurting people. The only reason why there is something against drugs is because the government isn't getting the tax on it and that is plain and simple. If the government was really worried about our benefit alcohol and tobacco would be illegal to sell. They kill more than any other drug. Now lets not forget about all the drugs out that have and still are killing people that are supposed to make us better from illness, the government approved those.

As far as abortion, you have to leave it up to the person who is making the decision. Now when you get to full term you are talking about murder. Once again two wrongs don't make a right.

As far as suicide, once again the person who makes that decision will have to anwer to God.

Prostitution will always be around regardless of what anybody says or thinks. It's survived for a long time. If a woman can make money with her looks then by all means go ahead. You have women who sleep around for the heck of it so why not make some money for it. Yes legalize it and tax it so we can get out of our debt. You don't have to be one and you don't have to be around it if you don't but there are plenty of affluent men/and or women who are involved with it now. Think about all the women who marry a rich man and then two months later divorce them with half of the man's earnings, if that isn't prostitution then I don't know what it is.

You guys act like you live in a shell or something. You know lady, I had a lawyer tell me one time that he was looked upon by his peers as a square. He went to a predominantly lawyer party and he said I was drinking because I drink. I don't do other drugs than drinking. Well some of the lawyers were doing other drugs and they offered him. He said no. They started to call him a square. He said I didn't have any problems for what they were doing because it is none of my business. He told the lawyers (both defense and prosecuters) that they were very hyprocritical. You all send people away for a very long time for the same stuff that you are doing right now. Think about that.
