January 23, 200917 yr A week ago there was a discussion between the A.C.C and the Big East and they were in the top 5 or so then. That's my point. I actually like Georgetown. They were picked 7th in the preseason. Probably about right.
January 23, 200917 yr They were picked 7th in the preseason. Probably about right. Before they played Duke, some on BGP were saying they were a top team in the Big East. My point is whenever a team starts playing well are the Big East supporters going to annoit them, but then when they lose a few games downgrade them. Basically the Big East can beat up on each other all year but will still be considered the dominant conference and better than the A.C.C. at the top. So far Pitt, UCONN and Louisville have shown they are the only real contenders for a National Championship.
January 23, 200917 yr The Hoyas have always been considered a team in the 5-7 range in the Big East. Maybe even back to 8 now that Syracuse has played mostly well. Their offense is heavily based on PG and C play, and Wright and Monroe don't have the experience needed yet...
January 23, 200917 yr UK National Champions baby!!!! I am praying for the 5/12 matchup, or Marquette in round 2.
January 23, 200917 yr So far Pitt, UCONN and Louisville have shown they are the only real contenders for a National Championship. I will say, that I cracked up at you stating that 3 teams from one conference are "real" contenders at a title, and they are in the same conference...I don't think there's ever been another conference where you could say, anyone of three teams could win the title.
January 23, 200917 yr Georgetown = one of my most hated teams, so YAY! Plus UK's RPI should go up! Man this score just made me smile! RPI is the name of the game people! Well AFTER this game, UK is still only 54....not good.
January 23, 200917 yr It's looking like Georgetown is a team that is struggling with pressure defense a lot this year. It'll be interesting to see how their season plays out.
January 23, 200917 yr It's looking like Georgetown is a team that is struggling with pressure defense a lot this year. It'll be interesting to see how their season plays out. To expand a little bit on what I said earlier, they have a lot more talent at the PG and C positions, but that talent is young and not able to execute a very demanding system in place. They will be better for it in the long run, but the Hoyas aren't a threat this year unless things click at a rate faster that I expect...
January 23, 200917 yr G-town sucks. And so do most teams in the Big East. Well, they don't suck, but they're not as good as advertised. ha ha ha .

Just face it man, tell us what the rest of us know, the big east pretty much sucks/overrated, except for UCONN (as usual). One of the ACC teams will win it this year. Let's have it.
January 23, 200917 yr Monroe seems a lil soft. That's been the knock on him for a while. He was never the #1 player in a pretty weak class, and Rivals dropped the ball putting him there for a while. I see him as at least a 3 year guy who will be a lot better down the road in the high post spot in their version of the Princeton offense...
