Why Not Sign Manny?

Featured Replies

Is that what they call drinking the kool aid ? If Manny was batting 4th I might buy us all a few kool aids!! I think Jockety knows what he's doing, just look at his track record.

The Reds don't need a cancer like Manny. In all reality if they can keep the young nucleus of players together and healthy, the Reds have a decent shot at the wild card this year and should be entering a probably 5 year window of being a very good team

I love it, every year you guys predict the Reds to at least win the division, 90+ wins

I love it. For a century the Cubs are going to win the title every year. Until they don't. Next. Or is it "there's always next year"... :ohbrother:

Manny wouldn't be on this team in 5 years. Sign him to a 2 year deal worth a lot of money. If we're out of it, then trade him to the Yankees, Angels, Nationals, or whoever wants him. I'd imagine Manny is demanding a no trade clause, but you'd have to put teams who would realistically be able to afford that type of money.

If the Reds signed Manny for this year, they wouldn't be in the hunt for the Wild Card. They'd be the favorites to win the division.

I'm speechless. You do realize that your team hasn't won in 100 years, right?

Chicago Cubs + October = :isurrender: + :puke: with a little bit of :idunno:

I agree 100% of what you said.

I will take on any takers that the Cubs will win the World Series before the Reds...

I don't care, what have the Reds done in the past 10 years? Nada!!!

Yes but the difference between the Cubs fans on here and Reds fans, we realize when our team is sorry, you guys think every year that these rag tag no name players fill the roster if they have carear years, the Reds could win it all.

Actually this thread is suggesting that they could contend for the playoffs if they add the best right handed hitter in baseball over the last decade. They have enough pitching to contend if they stay healthy and add Manny Ramirez. They can play pretty good and have an outside chance at the wild card w/o him, but a lot has to go well.

The fact that anyone believes the Reds have even a remote shot at signing Manny is funny to me, and if you look up at post 17, you'll see that I think the Reds are definitely on the up swing in all seriousness

Success can be measured by Rings, so just as much as the Cubs matter of fact, what have the Reds done over the last 100 years, tons, tons, tons, tons.....better. :fight: :D But that is not the argument at all. It's that Manny could help us contend for a playoff spot.
