Best Freshman in the State.

Mike Terry from Rose Hill is a really good player 6'5 or 6'6 can play out on the floor runs the floor well is really going to be a good one.

After seeing Rose Hill vs. Raceland I was more impressed with the freshman Gregg who had 24 points. Both are nice players, but Gregg was more impressive in that particular game. Gregg is about 6'3"-6'4" plays really aggressive, and appears to be a real strong kid for just a freshman.

D.J. Townsend is a good one. I forgot about him.

I can also vouch for the Southwestern Freshman team. They are a machine and I am sure they have huge expectations when those boys are juniors and seniors. Very good team.

Where did Jaylen Beckham play middle school ball at? I don't recall seeing him playing for the Lexington Catholic middle school team last year.

Although your talkin about freshmen individuals, Southwestern's freshmen team is 13-0 this year. And the key player on that team is Cody Epperson he plays alot of varsity minutes. If I'm not mistaken I think they are something like 75-5 since they're 6th grade year.

I don't understand how you can play alot of Varsity minutes and still be on the Freshmen team as well. I've seen Freshmen play up after their seasons end, but it seems a little unethical from a coaching standpoint for a coach to play a kid at the freshmen level that's also playing varsity consistently.

If not mistaken Beckhma played at Bryan Station!

Agree 100% :thumb:

Zeke Pike (Dixie Heights) probably should be mentioned in this thread. I hear he is put together and has a very solid game.

I just feel that it makes the freshmen coach look like he's playing to win and not to better the kids. If a freshmen is good enough to play varsity, then he should be practicing with the varsity and playing with them only(maybe start JV). Sure he may get more PT, but he should be with the better athletes it will only better him in the long run.

I can understand both sides of the issue. I completely and totally understand and I am for playing to win. However, if I was coaching and had a freshman who was playing varsity and getting good minutes, I would more than likely keep him with the varsity and jv. I wouldn't want to risk injury to a player who was getting significant minutes on my varsity team by playing him in freshmen games.

I do understand that this team has been together for quite some time and they have a great overall record, not to mention chemistry so I understand why he is playing freshman games also. I can't say I would do it, but it doesn't bother me at all that they do, or anyone else that might do it.

However, out of my own selfishness, if we had a freshman playing varsity ball, I would still want him on our freshman team so we would have a greater chance to win.

Oh he does all that too. But the thing that I failed to tell you is that he has to play freshman we only have 5 players. So if we have someone to foul out then we only have 4. All the freshman players do play JV and dress Varsity Cody comes off the bench pretty early in the game and his twin brother Justin gets a little playing time as well.

I do remember when we played Southwestern last year in the 8th grade they only dressed 7 players. And still dominated the game from the tip.

How is this possible? Is the towns hs population like 80 total? I'm not tryin to be a jerk, just trying to wrap my head around this one.

SK has a solid freshman playing varsity.. I'm drawing a blank on his name.

I believe his name is Cody Chambers

Southwestern is a 5A school. When they played Somerset they did have 1 sub so they had 6 dressed.
