Oh he does all that too. But the thing that I failed to tell you is that he has to play freshman we only have 5 players. So if we have someone to foul out then we only have 4. All the freshman players do play JV and dress Varsity Cody comes off the bench pretty early in the game and his twin brother Justin gets a little playing time as well.

Well you can't really count him. He never shows up to practice and during the JV games he may get up off the bench and go to the locker room and play playstation or go to the consession stand and get something to eat or one of our other coaches caught him outside throwing snow balls. Ya see what I mean?

I knew I hadn't seen him play for Lexington Catholic's middle school team over the last 3 years.

I do remember when we played Southwestern last year in the 8th grade they only dressed 7 players. And still dominated the game from the tip.

 

Do you remember their scorekeeper that was sitting next to us last year at the Mercer Co. tourney. He said his son was the only one that was 13 years old on the team. The other 6 kids were either 15 or close to being 15. Last year these kids could have been young sophomores or older freshmen players. I admit they were one of the best 8th grade team that I saw last year, but they should have been because of their age. I think when the current Boyle County freshmen team becomes Junior and Seniors they will be a "force to reckon with" and will be able to compete with them. This team has really improved since last year and will only get better after playing more games.:dancingpa :ylsuper::ylsuper:

So are you saying that its not right or fair for the parents to hold back their kid back to help them develop better as a player and to better the team? Each and every school in the state of Kentucky has the right to do this. And I'm sure Southwestern isn't the only school doing it.

They were all still well within KHSAA regulations to be able to play all 4 years in high school. They will also improve as they gain experience.

That physical maturity made all of the difference and created a somewhat unlevel playing field. As our boys continue to grow and develop more physical maturity the playing field will even out so in 2 years or less when our boys catch up to yours we will see where we are all at. If our freshman team all stayed back this year and did the 8th grade over again we would be undefeated in 8th grade play and we would probably put them in all the tournaments that we could so we could show everyone how dominant we are. No disrespect is intended at all, but like I said, over the next 2-3 years, when our boys catch up with yours physically, we will see where we are at. I look forward to the battle for the 12th region in the 2011-12 season. We will be ready.

I know Southwestern isn't the only team doing it. They were just the most successful at getting results while doing it. We have beaten multiple teams that had older 8th graders and older freshmen. Just not Southwestern.

Yeah your right it should be a very good game for the 2011-2012 12th Region. Boyle County has Southwestern's number in both Football and Basketball. In 1998 Boyle County beat Southwestern in the Region Finals and again in 2006 and keeping Southwestern from going to Rupp. So I'll agree it'll be a good match up.

Gallatin's freshman team isn't to bad. They have been playing together for years. They have one that starts varsity. These kids have played in the Covington Turners christmas tournament for years and have had great success.

Tamron Manning from Scott County. Period. By far the best ... Billy G. better get on this kid right away because from what I understand he is supposed to get up to about 6'8" or 6'9". May be a Kevin Durant type player at the next level If that is true. I saw him throw down two nasty dunk tips on Bryan Station, he's the next big star out of this state.
