After the FROZEN TUNDRA all star game they are playing tomorrow. Williams from GRC and Darnell from Montgomery were both gone for the game. Great timing for an all-star football game:rolleyes:

I just don't want anyone to get hurt. Not good conditions to be playing football in such cold temperatures.

Football wants to whine about how basketball takes kids from their sport, but they have NO REGARD for other sports that they run over.

Prep Basketball: Cards hold off Indians

MOUNT STERLING — George Rogers Clark achieved its first goal of the season Friday night with a regular-season sweep of rival Montgomery County.

The Cardinals ended district seed play with a perfect 3-0 record.

 

 

Clark (14-3) struggled from the field and made just four 3-pointers, but none bigger than Vinny Zollo’s trey late in the third quarter.It was just a momentum-changer,” Humphrey said. “They kind of had us on the ropes a little bit. They may have been surprised that he stepped out and hit the three. After he hit the three, he didn’t stay on the perimeter. He went back in there and got some nice rebounds for us. I thought he did a nice job of being physical tonight.”

 

Robbie Stenzel was the top scorer for Clark, finishing with 23 points, followed by Robert Hatton with 19. Stenzel did most of his damage in the second half, scoring 18, including eight in the third frame.

Was the weather that much different in early December? This is only the second year and the weather was great last year.

 

Basketball was going on in early December also? If you wanted to schedule it around basketball you would have to play in during the dead period.

What I'm saying is it wouldn't have that much effect on a team in early Dec as it would in the middle of the season. It takes about 2-4 weeks to get the football out of boys who go from football to basketball. Chance of injury is greater when the weather is 10 degrees also. It would be a shame to lose a player because of this event. Are you going to the game today.

You are right it should be it's own thread and has been - probably several times.

 

I just have to say, you can't please everybody when scheduling events. No one can predict weather at the time this type event is planned (i. e. last year was fine); no one can predict who will be playing multiple sports. I hate to see good ideas dumped because it inconviences a few - and I am not just talking about the Border Bowl - almost everything overlaps now.

 

It seems all sports "whine" about the other sports and it puts the students in a difficult spot.

This is the part I hate about the whole situtation.

 

I do want to comment that both student sections must be commended for the way they behaved last night. It was a huge rival game and both sections acted with class. Thumbs up to both schools.:thumb::thumb:

That 1-3-1 is something Humprhey has used more and more as the season goes on! It really messes with teams with the cards being so long and having quick guards! This is something I look for the cards to rely on going into march!

 

I love the 1-3-1 but I don't understand coming out in it when you know that Mont. county was going to shoot the three at the end of the game. They hit two big shots and got right back into the game. It took two possesions for Clark co to switch back to man to man. I think that the 1-3-1 is effective when you have someone like Jalen Daniels up top. He has a big wingspan and can cover a lot of ground. As aggresive as Patrick Bailey is, he just can't cover that much territory. Coach Humprey does a good job but I really question a few of the decisions made in this game. The Cards still got a big win in a tough road game.
