mcpapa
The smell of a swamp in humid weather. A paper mill - the smell of the whiskey brewing (or whatever it is brewing) in Cincinnati at exit 9 on 1-75 in the summer. When I was a lad, the smell from the Baltimore Carling brewery was pretty foul on occasion; could be smelled from many miles away if the wind was just so. 20/20Hindsight
Anyone ever been to Macon, GA? I stayed there as a kid on a family vacation on our way down to Florida one time. I remember that entire city smelling pretty badly. Not sure what it was from though. I do remember it being quite hot out that day, so I'm sure the heat didn't help at all. It was such a bad smell and made such an impact on us that, even to this day, occassionally during family gatherings it's brought up when reminiscing about days gone by. The conversation usually starts out something like this: "Remember when we drove through Macon and the entire town smelled? Ugh...that place was gross!" NEERFAN
The smell about 1 mile oustside of Vevey,IN. I smell it driving through there every night I go to the YMCA. It's a mix between an old fart and burnt rubber.[/QUOTE] I sometimes have gas that smells like burnt rubber.

Hoot Gibson
Gary, Indiana - at least it smelled in the early 80's - I have not been back since. It only smelled long enough to temporarily deaden my senses. After spending a night there, I could not smell much of anything for a few hours.
