Are people really getting excited about a 9th place finish?

 

I think it would really be a 7th place finish . . . please don't take any more away from us that others already have. :thumb:

We beat Myrtle Beach so they aren't being counted

 

CONSOLATION CHAMPIONSHIP

Game 25 - 1:45 pm - Southside (SC) vs Elliott County (KY)

The winner would be 7th and loser would be 8th place

 

5TH PLACE

Game 26 - 3:30 pm - Arlington Country Day (FL) vs Cedar Hill (TX)

The loser would be 6th place

 

3RD PLACE

Game 27 - 5:30 pm - Pennsbury (PA) vs Martin Luther King (CA)

The loser would be 4th place

 

CHAMPIONSHIP

Game 28 - 7:30 pm St. Patrick (NJ) vs Wheeler (GA) [box Score]

The loser would be 2nd place

I was thinking the same thing. Don't hear too many people yelling "we're number 9. we're number 9."

 

Look at the quality of the competition that Elliott County went 3 and 1 against. I wonder how many other teams in Kentucky could have done better. The beach ball classic people won't call them anything but the Consolation Champion. If you listen really hard you can probably hear the Lion faithful cheering their team from where you are.

Listen. I'm not taking anything away from anybody. I root for all Kentucky teams when they play out of state. I root for all 16th region teams when they play out of region. Elliott Co. is a great team. Top 5 in the state. I'm confident that they will win the 16th region, and have a great shot at winning the Sweet 16. I will certainly be rooting for them to do so if they come out of the 16th. They have a great bunch of young men playing for them. I don't know any of them personally, but know people that do, and have heard nothing but good things about them. I congratulated them on a very good showing in the tournament. It's a shame they lost the first game. I heard they had some sickness on the team. You never what they may have done if they had won that 1st game. Here's the thing though. You want to be recognized as one of the big boys, then start acting like one. Do you honestly feel that fans from Holmes, Lex. Catholic, Mason Co. etc.... would be jumping all up and down over a 7th or 9th place finish?

Congrats EC! 3 out of 4 at that tourney is very impressive. The team they beat today has some real talent. EC showed a lot today.

Looks like the Beach Ball Classic no longer carries the prestige that it once did now that Elliott County finished 3-1 and won the Consolation Bracket. Head Coaches & AD's I suggest looking elsewhere for the future to take your teams. Sorry Myrtle Beach Chamber of Commerce I just cannot see how Ky teams can afford to play there in the future ! Sunny Florida here they come!
