Key to this game was the inside game of Cedar Hill. They had more than one solid big man down low, which EC has yet to see this year.

I watched the whole game and thought the officiating wasn't that great.

I noticed two goal tending calls should have been made, plus one pass Eathan Faulkner threw was clearly off the TX team and the ref called it off EC.

A few call's more going EC's way and had they knocked down some of the buckets, this game would have been much closer.

I really think EC should have won this game, came out very cold and could't hit the broadside of a barn.

Poor shooting is a different story, sounds like they should have knocked down the open ones. Since you watched it did it look like they were rushing their shots due to the length and quickness of the TX team?

Both posts are right. EC couldn't buy one tonight and against this caliber of team, it makes it a lot harder to win. Cedar Hill is a GOOD team, among several down here. Normally if Elliott has an off night, they'll just shut the other team down on D. The regional final against East last year comes to mind. I can't see them shooting this bad for a while.

I didn't notice them rushing as much as it seemed they were thinking about it. The rhythm wasn't there from what I watched...

Had a lot of open looks, just didn't fall. South Charleston was a better perimeter team defensively than Cedar Hill. Cedar Hill was big, physical, and good down low.

Sometimes there is a reason why a team plays bad too. Maybe that the other teams defensive pressure created the problem.:thumb:

 

Good luck to Elliott in the future, but give credit where credit is due. Elliott is as good of a team as we can expect out of the 16th Region, and we all enjoy watching them, but dont see a State Championship team. That is a large feat to accomplish.

I was glad to see the rebouning edge going to EC. That's something positive from this game. I wish Elliott had won, but time will tell if this team is a contender for the title. I honestly don't know. I watched them play poorly tonight (credit to the CH defense) and they still were competetive. That, too, says something positive about this team.

Let's see, without saying if. Had Elliott County been able to connect on any percentage near their average, they would have won. Sure some of the misses were due to good defense, but they still missed on a lot of open looks. Congratulations to the Lions it should be a long time before you shoot that poorly again. I watched you on the internet feed and was impressed. Good luck the rest of the way.

I was just looking at the box score for the game and some of the stats jumped out at me. Elliott County out rebounded Cedar Hill 39-36. Elliott County shot 4 for 30 from three point range. Elliott County took 10 more shots than Cedar Hill. And the biggest was Cedar Hill's 20 assists on 28 made shots compared to Elliott County's 5 assists on 21 made baskets.

Once again, like I have been saying. Its hard to get a read on Elliott Co. considering they don't play anyone in Ky to compare them with. I mean we are comparing Elliott to Scott based on Elliott playing the #2 team in Texas and Scott Co. playing the #1 team. Which is like comparing apples to oranges. There is no way to get a good read on Elliott Co. I am not going to run around and say they are overrated because I just don't know. At the same time I can't see saying they are top 4 or 5 team considering they play no one to judge it by.

Sums up the game, EC missed a lot of shots and never could get their press in gear. When they did, it bothered Cedar Hill. EC also went a lot of 1 on 1 due to being behind, which cut down on their assists. Cedar Hill played a solid game hard to fault them.

 

Ferguson is too good of scorer to have many more games like this. I thought this game did show how good the Faulkners are against top notch competition. When they got the chance they whipped Cedar Hill's guards. Elliott will be fine, just had a tough shooting night.

A lot of this, "Elliott County doesn't play anyone, we don't know how good they are", is nonsense. These kids have been all over the country since middle school and have fared very well. This isn't there first rodeo so to speak. They know how to play and win. I'm not going to say they're going to play Sat. morning in March but they are definitely good enough to be there.

Kudos to Cody Nickell on a great game off the bench. He played several minutes in the 1st half and made Elliott proud.

 

This was a good game and a good test for Elliott. If you have ever watched many Elliott games you would know this one very important thing. The shooting was cold and they were off, simple. It happens. I don't give credit to the texas team for that. It just happens. All teams have off nights on occaision. The Lions seemed in a daze the first half of the game. IMO, the second half showed some clarity and they played stronger as the crowd gave them even more support. There were some questionable referee issues but I won't go there for fear of being chastised publicly on BGP. If you were at the game you know what I mean.

 

Our team makes us very proud. We know how good they are. We know they are fun to watch and full of talent. In fact, at the game last night, 2 ladies from Louisville sat behind us. They know not a soul in Sandy Hook. They are not related to any of the coaches or players for Elliott. They love to watch good high school basketball, so they drove from Louisville, Ky to Myrtle Beach, SC to see the Lions play. They left with sore throats and scratchy voices due to cheering the lions on in this Goliath 1 - David 0 game. Thank you ladies for your presence and your spirit. Thank you team for once again making us proud.
