Trinity 73 Boone Co 68 (OT)

Final

1st round of the Republic Bank Classic tournament played at Lexington Catholic

Trinity will play the winner of Clark Co/Hopkins Co Central tomorrow at 9pm

From source at game, sounds like Boone played good in 1st half and got Sewell and Epley in foul trouble but in 3rd quarter, with starting guards out, Trinity makes a huge run. Trinity then misses several layups which would have sealed game in 4th.

McFarland plays great in 1st half but misses key free throws late in reg and OT and Sewell hits huge 3 for Trinity with 105 to play in OT to take lead for good.

Boone led by McFarland in scoring and Popp played very solid game!

How did Harrison play?

Hit a few shots to open the game but did not play a lot afterward. He struggled with turnovers.

I believe Trinity was led by Sewell with 21, Little with 16, then Corbett with 11, and Boone was led by McFarland with 14 and Popp with 12. McFarland played well but struggled with free throws in OT. Both teams had ample opportunity to win and overall did not shoot well from the free throw line. The game could have went either way. It was a physical game, with lots of inside pushing and fouls called and a technical foul called. Both teams were in double bonus in the 4th quarter, and it became a free throw shooting contest. Sewell hit a big three with a couple of minutes left in OT.

Boone had a 19 point lead in the second quarter . Trinity made a run in the 3rd when Boone's starting guards were out, and Trinity forced several turnovers during that time with a press. Boone played probably 9 players.

Corbett helped bring Trinity back with smart guard play throughout.

Tough loss for the Rebels. Will they still go to consolation bracket?

Rebs once led 33-14 in first half.

McFarland had a shot to win it in regulation but missed.

Don't know, just looked like he was trying to force too many passes and dribble into too much pressure. Quick kid with a decent shot. I'm sure he'll get better. I hear he is a freshman.

Looks like they will go to the consolation bracket and play for 7th place. Will play Knott County Central tomorrow morning.

Sounds like the Rocks showed some guts to battle back from a 19 point deficit.

I can promise he will get better. I seen him play when he was in the 6th grade and I could tell he would be good then.

Harrison is a growth spurt away from being a star. He is still good but if he grows a couple inches more he will be big time. Today he did over dribble at times but hes only a freshman. Has a really good shot but I didn't understand him not being in the game in the overtimes. It seemed like to me every time he shot the ball he got taken out of the game. I guess the coach knew what he was doing though as they came back to win. But boy do i look forward to watching him play in the upcoming years.

Yes, he needs a couple of inches. Pretty good for a freshman.

Popp from Boone played good defense on him and kept him from scoring after being switched to guard him late in the first Q.

At this point, I think Trinity plays better as a team with Corbett at point. He shows good maturity with the ball. Trinity gained on Boone or pushed the margin out each time he was in the game.
