December 22, 200817 yr No different than disrespecting a midfield logo...
December 22, 200817 yr Indy won at Pittsburg this year already...:jump::sssh: But, they didn't win in Tennessee...:sssh:
December 22, 200817 yr Announcer stated 4. My bad, he actually had 3.5:p :thumb: I wonder if Steve Young and the rest of the NFL experts still think Fisher and company are stupid for not picking Limas Sweed (or some other WR) early in the draft? Chris Johnson - 1488 Total Yards, 10 TD Second round pick Jason Jones is a guy they've liked all year and he delivers 3.5 sacks in the biggest game of the season with the team's two best D-linemen injured.
December 22, 200817 yr Author 5, do you think your Titans would be in this position with VY at the helm?
December 22, 200817 yr As for the towel stomping...who cares (other than Bill Cowher:D)? I'm sure the Steelers will try to use that for some "added" motivation if these teams meet again and that's fine. They'd be crazy not to. But, if they beat Tennessee in the playoffs, it won't be because the Titans stomped on the "terrible hanky" and turned the Steelers into a roster full of raging Incredible Hulks...it will be because they outplayed them and beat them. If these teams meet again, it's going to be for a berth in the Super Bowl. I feel confident that that will be enough motivation for Tennessee. In the event of the rematch in Tennessee, which would cause you to have more confidence? 1. Knowing your team got beat by 17 points in Tennessee by a team playing without Haynesworth and Vanden Bosch...but the Titans stomped on a yellow rag after the game and "motivated" your team? or 2. Knowing your team won by 17 on its homefield without Haynesworth and Vanden Bosch...and those guys will be back for a potential rematch? Personally, I'd feel better about the latter. However, I think the Titans just had one of those games where guys step up and play over their heads for a week without some stars, while simultaneously catching the Steelers a little off at the end of a brutal 4 game stretch (@ New England, vs. Dallas, @ Baltimore, @ Tennessee) in which they'd won the previous three. If they rematch, Pittsburgh will win because they're the better team. Nobody could run the table against a 4-week stretch like that. They're still the best team in the league. It was just one of those games where everything went Tennessee's way. The Titans were lucky...
December 22, 200817 yr 5, do you think your Titans would be in this position with VY at the helm? No way. My guess is that they'd probably be similar to last year's 10-6 Wild Card squad. They'd be in the thick of the playoff hunt with Baltimore and the AFC East teams. Collins has played well for sure, but the defense and rushing combo of White and Johnson has carried this team. There's been 3 or 4 games where Collins and the passing game played a huge role in getting the W...those would have been L's with VY is my guess. They'd have ranged between 9-11 wins with Vince. I think the defense and running game alone could have carried them to that against their 2008 schedule.
December 22, 200817 yr The Titans reminded everyone of what the Steelers flaw was known to be before the season ever started, ... the O line. They have virtually no running game, and very poor pass protection. They have lived and died on the back of the defense and Ben making plays in the final quarter to get the win. The defense had their worst day of the season, and the Titans made them pay. I hope for the Steeler's sake, that the offensive line situation is addressed in the off season. They will not get back to another Super Bowl with this O line.
December 22, 200817 yr Titans were the better team yesterday. The running back taunting Troy P. and then all of the Towel fiascos. I think the Titans thought they just won the Superbowl. 2 things The Steelers looked tired physically and mentally yesterday and never matched the Titans intensity. Maybe the schedule and week after week of big games finally wore on them. Defensively the Steelers had a very conservative game plan.
December 22, 200817 yr Author ^A left tackle would go a long way to help fix that problem. Yep. The left guard sucks as well. Kemoeatu was supposed to be a stud. He's been a dud. We can't run behind this line. Starks is fair in pass protection, but can't run block for crap. Willie Colon has had only one game without a false start penalty. And for all the grief the Center position got last season with Mahan getting run over and we got blitzed right up the gut, Hartwig has been the best OL of the bunch. Lost Faneca to FA, Marvel to back injury, Simmons to achilles tear. What can we expect, other than to have made an OL selection in the first 2 rds instead of the selections we made? This draft was for poop.

I think the Titans thought they just won the Superbowl. 2 things The Steelers looked tired physically and mentally yesterday and never matched the Titans intensity. Maybe the schedule and week after week of big games finally wore on them. Defensively the Steelers had a very conservative game plan. Most of the creativity you get on defense is in pass defense and blitz packages. The Titans run-heavy, smash mouth style limits the opportunities for opposing defenses...1) they don't pass as much as other teams, 2) due to their ground game their "passing" situations are frequently "manageable" distances and 3) they're still a threat to run on down and distance combos that most teams are almost exclusive passing teams. I doubt the Steelers were playing a "vanilla" defense and saving the real thing for a possible playoff rematch when home field advantage throughout the playoffs was at stake yesterday. I do agree that the Steelers tough schedule had an effect. I'll say it again...no team in the league could play the following four games in succession and win them all: @ New England, vs. Dallas, @ Baltimore, @ Tennessee Pitt won the first three and finally stumbled in Nashville. As a fan, I'm sure its a little disappointing with home field in reach. But, I'd be happy with where they're at if I were a Steelers fan. The fact that they went 3-1 in that stretch speaks volumes about them, IMO. They still get my vote as the top team in the league...
December 22, 200817 yr Sandbagger. What? My team manned and played arguably its best offensive game (considering the opponent) and a beat up defense stepped up and played a great game...against an opponent that just ran out of steam at the end of a brutal month of football. If they play again, there's no way Tennessee wins by 17. It was just one of those games...they happen sometimes and you can never predict it. One week ago, the Titans were a struggling team that peaked to early and would probably be lucky to win its first playoff game...now, after one bad game by Pittsburgh, they've become the Super Bowl favorite again. I don't think so. They're still the same team...
