Ryle 72 Conner 45

Who dunked for Conner?

No clue, but from the looks of their team (rather small) there's probably only a few candidates.

It's actually once the ref's are on the floor during pre-game dunking is no longer permitted. Before that it is free game. I believe it typically occurs around the 15 minute mark til game time, but I've seen them come out earlier and later.

What would possibly be the purpose of this rule? So you can dunk to your heart's delight right up until the point the refs are on the floor and then it's forbidden and then once the game starts, it's permissable again. Sounds goofy to me.

It only takes half a brain as a player to realize the 15 minute mark and that the refs are coming ... It takes less as a coach to post an assistant with the sole responsibility of informing the team of the same...

Maybe they (the coaches) didn't know anyone on the team could dunk it????

Rule 13

Ryle has established themselves as the number 3 team in the region.

My guess is that technically you're not allowed to dunk before the game at all and its probably an old safety rule. However, if there are no refs on the floor to witness it you can't issue a T so you have kids dunking. There is no specific time that you're allowed to or not allowed to dunk. It just becomes a problem when the officials hit the floor which is traditionally at the 15 minute mark.

This may be the most shocking score in NKY so far this season. Conner has been playing great basketball and Ryle destroyed them. The Raiders are without a doubt a top 3 team in NKY now. Looks like they straightened out the problems from last season.

Congrats to the Raiders. I had occasion to sit next to several of the Ryle varsity players after their game at NKU during the Bluegrass/Buckeye Classic at NKU (during the Cov. Cath. - Highlands game). Very nice young men. Best of luck for their continued success.

The only Cougar I saw dunking in pregame was Hodges. Conner did not seem in the game "mentally" from the start and the score indicates such. Ryle was very hot from the field. It seemed like everything they threw up went in and Conner was opposite. Conner missed several close shots that just rolled out. Ryle was definetly the better team tonight and probably any other night, but just not by this many points.

Another thing surprised me as well. Both schools had about 30 kids each in the cheering section show up for this game!!! These are large schools but near zero student support for a supposed rival game. Very sad, when I was in school, years ago, when enrollment was much smaller we had triple this support.:creepy:

Agreed. This seems like the first year under Coach Mullins where there are no "headcases" on the hardword. I look for Ryle to get 20 wins this year.

I have been reeatedly dissappointed(in multiple sports) with the lack of student, parent, and community interest. I agree with hja that not long ago, you couldn't get into most gyms for a weeknight game and now you cant get people to come for a prime time Friday!

I forgot to mention this. While Coach Hicks could not have been happy about starting the game down 2 and his opponent with the ball, I bet he was REALLY upset that he had to sit on the bench all night and could not use the coach's box. I hope someone had a seatbelt.
