Week 2: NKY Rankings

Featured Replies

St. Henry is struggling early I'd put them behind Beechwood and Holy Cross at this point in the season and maybe NCC.

St. Henry always finishes seasons strong though.

Holmes in basketball is like the Birds in football. No way they lose the #1 spot all year. Great team and it will be a huge upset if they don't represent us in Rupp.

I'm not sure if Holmes even loses a 9th region game. They are extremely tough.

I agree. But I thought that last year and then Newport Central Catholic surpriised them.

I agree, but if a 9th region team beats Holmes this year, it would be a much bigger upset IMO considering they have 4 legit D1 prospects in Pittman, Johnson Brothers, and Arnold.

Is Holmes playing in the Lex Cath Invitational this year? I really want to get out and see these guys play. They're definitely something special.

No but they'll be in Lexington this whole week end playing at Bryan Station Friday night against Knox Central (9:30), Sat night against Ballard (7:30), then Monday night against Tates Creek (9:00). Tuesday night they'll be in Lex. as well but the time and who they play is TBA.

I agree with the rankings thus far. Holmes vs. Boone will be the real tell tale for where the rest of NKY compares.

I agree.

As for the rankings...when was the last time Covcath WASN'T ranked in the top 10.

I think they got it right though with Boone 2, Highlands 3, Ryle 4, and Conner 5. If BC, Ryle, and Conner continue to play up to their ranking, the 33rd should be very fun to watch.

In another recent post you said Highlands was the 2nd best team in NKY? Do you see them being very close with Boone?

Actually I said I didn't understand how nky could have them at #3 when the state recognizes them as the 13th best team in the state and Boone is no where to be found. Honestly I'd have Highlands at #2 and Boone #3 right now, simply because Highlands is a) undefeated (as Boone is) and b) they have a win over a top 20 team. Boone hasn't played anyone YET. Who is the better team? It's debatable but right now Highlands has the signature win that Boone doesn't which would put them in the #2 spot.

Boone and Holmes are obviously the two most talented teams in nky this year, but I think Boone will lose to another NKY team outside of Holmes...

No one ranked, but Ryle is a pretty solid team that could make some noise in the 9th and Boone defeated them.

I would say Riley is more of a D1 prospect than Arnold.

I would bump Campbell up one spot over Conner, but the rest looks about right.

Forgot about Ryle. First game of the year.

Could be right, could be wrong. Riley's downfall is he's only around 6', 6'1. He no doubt has the talent and athleticism though. The kid has a 40 inch vertical and can flat out shoot the rock.

Who has Campbell beaten? (Asking, really don't know).

You seem to be implying that Boone, Highlands, and CC are all pretty much interchangeable at the #2 spot? Boone and Highlands would appear to be pretty obvious and clearcut choices for #2 and #3.

CCHS has had a pretty light schedule thus far, but they have two of the better players in the 10th with Nerl and Albrect. I can't put the Camels with the top five teams because of their lack of PG. The Camels have dominated their three opponents thus far, but the PG has yet to be pressed. They will struggle to find a back up PG with ball handling skills. Nerl is one of the best shooters in the state, but if he is relied upon to bring the ball up the floor, they will be in trouble.
