For pitching? Thats where we need the help! Maybe you know more than I do about it! I'm not saying we don't need him, we just need the pitching help!

I think we MIGHT be OK on pitching just depends on injuries etc. We never really lost a starter or a full time pitcher from last year 2 Senior spot filled and helped out a little BUT the most of the team is still there.

Just looking at the rest of 63 District, Greenup is only team with abunance of pitching but, with your new transfer from N Hardin that could change. One stud pitcher could changes alot things.

I don't know if he is a pitcher or not, but he is a catcher and thats what we need the most! I,ve heard that he beat Billy Logan out of a position on a traveling team! So with that being said he is going to be a BIG plus especially if he can hit like Billy too. Plus if we get the Rister kid that would be a help!!

I have absolutely nothing against baseball, I am just taking up for a man that I admire and think does a great job for the school and community.

 

As for the new coach, he did play college baseball, not football. He knows baseball, and will do a great job. I think there is a lot for a school district to take into account when allowing a person, be it a teacher, paraprofessional, or a volunteer, to coach. A school district has to look at a lot of things first, it is not just "you are willing, so go at it".

pickoff, I say if you have a problem with Coach Vanderhoof or how he is running the program, then why don't you call him and ask to speak to him. I know he would be more then willing to have a civil conversation with you about baseball, football, or any other topic that you wish.

 

But, what I doubt he will do, is get on the internet and bad mouth you, no matter if he agrees with you or disagrees with you, I bet he is man enough to tell you his feelings to your face. Not in public when you are not around.

Yea, they have that right, but I guess there are two kinds of people in the world, those you complain and never resolve anything, and those you who go to the source and work out differences.

 

Vanderhoof is a very good football, baseball, and basketball coach, he is a great person who has dedicated a large part of his life to the Raceland school system. Some people are going to have except that he will be at Raceland, in what ever capacity that he wants, for as long as he wants. That is the way it is, and that is the way it should be. He has helped the Raceland community much more then it has helped him. The Administration understands loyalty, I just wish everyone did.

Raceland should be honored, to have Coach Vanderhoof at the helm. I have known him for numerous years and first class, does not do him justice. One of the best men and overall positive influence, to young people I know.

He does a lot for the Ram community and school. At most schools, getting gym time as you say is difficult, for non basketball programs. Many programs will have players, who are dedicated and working on their own.

 

Coach Hall left to work at Morehead State and replacing him, will not be easy. Finding those coaches willing to put in the time, have them offer their services.

Thank you Augie, that imo is a great compliment to the Raceland program and coach Randy Vanderhoof. I too have known him and his entire family since his youth, there is not a better person anywhere and he is a positive influence on young people. First class person all the way.

Ram, you have posted some very good points and the bolded part is one that imo a lot of people don't take into consideration.

I would think Raceland major concern would be pitching this year. What do you guys think?

 

That is what I am hearing.

We have a couple that should be alright in Wilson and Reynolds they are the only two that has thrown alot in varisty. McKee was getting some games under his belt until he got hurt. We had a few others throw in some games also but these three is what everyone I have talked to seems to be the main ones as of now. I guess things could change once practice starts and the coaches sees who comes out for the team.

We have a couple that should be alright in Wilson and Reynolds they are the only two that has thrown alot in varisty. McKee was getting some games under his belt until he got hurt. Those three will be the nucleus on the mound, no doubt. I think McKee will have a big year on diamond, weather it is on the mound, in outfield, or at the plate. Like you said, we will have to see who is there on the first day. Jeremy Barr will be an asset behind the plate, I don't know if he will be on the mound any or not, but he could be.

Defense up the midle is paramount. That being said, Barr catching, Carver at second, Boyles in center and possibly Rister at short. Sounds pretty good to me. Josh Reed will be a 2 year starter as a Freshman at third. If the pitching holds up and we get the right draw for the District Tourney, we could get to the Regionals and then.......we all know it is about win and advance and who knows, if you play deep enough, you may see another teams 3 or 4 starter on the mound. At that point, it is a lot more level of a playing field.

 

(Of course, this is dependant upon Boyles coming back and Rister transferring.)

I know McKee did throw in relief the first time against Russell and did alright. Wilson and Reynolds did most of the pitching I believe in the district.

The kid your talking about is Jeremy Barr from Central Hardin he may be the next D1 behind the plate!!!
