Does Barr pitch? Is he really that good behind the plate? Did he throw a lot of kids out? Batting average?

Defense up the midle is paramount. That being said, Barr catching, Carver at second, Boyles in center and possibly Rister at short. Sounds pretty good to me. Josh Reed will be a 2 year starter as a Freshman at third. If the pitching holds up and we get the right draw for the District Tourney, we could get to the Regionals and then.......we all know it is about win and advance and who knows, if you play deep enough, you may see another teams 3 or 4 starter on the mound. At that point, it is a lot more level of a playing field.

 

(Of course, this is dependant upon Boyles coming back and Rister transferring.)

The kid your talking about is Jeremy Barr from Central Hardin he may be the next D1 behind the plate!!!

Its is going to be fun to watch him and Logan go at it when GC and Raceland meet up.

I can't wait to see how well this team gels together. I truly believe Boyles will play this year, too. Especially if Rister plays shortstop. I don't know how we'll do at the plate, but we should be solid on defense and have adequate pitching, as long as we do not have significant injuries. We should be fun to watch.

Not to sound cocky, but even with the addidition of Boyles and Rister, they will still be the second best team in the district. GC is just a baseball powerhouse right now. Its the only sport in which I fell like we can honestly say we will beat Raceland..

I agree with you about being the pre-season favorite. However, power-house may be pushing it a little bit. They lost more talent than what people may think. District wise, they're definately the team to beat, but winning their district doesn't make them a power-house. I would also like to say congrats to Billy Logan, good article and well deserved, he's worked very hard year around to get to where he's at. I hope you go out in style, I've enjoyed watching you behind the plate over the years. :thumb:

You are 100% right Tide.....but I believe 2 straight trips to the Elite 8 and a good chance to make it three is as close to a power house as we have had in this district.

I think GC will be more like reloading, the biggest lost of 08 seniors would be T. Heineman. Greenup can replace the rest with the same level of player at the other positions. JMO:p

Greenup County will hit well and score runs. The pitching will be there also but replacing Heineman will have to be a team effort.

So, don't take me wrong, I wish Greenup the best of luck. I have to root for the Rams first though. However, losing Hieneman will hurt them pitching wise this year, they still return Dakota Greenslate and Kyle Martin who have helped make the trips to Applebees the last two seasons so I think they should be solid all the way around.

Didn't Stringfellow, Hieny & Scaggs start last year with Madden being the DH? Madden hit as well as anybody in the Post season for Greenup last year. So in reality, it's not 7 of the 9 starters returning. Although I have to admit, their pitching looks solid. Good-Luck seniors, I wish a healthy and strong year for all of you. :thumb:

What are the pitching prospects for the Rams this year? I have heard Wilson, McKee and Reynolds but nothing after that.
