The readings taken at the end of 2008 showed the ice was at the same levels as 1979.

The winters will be come harsher, summers hotter, huricanes seasons will last longer etc. It doesn't mean we are going to burn up. For those that don't believe in GW, how do you explain all the melting that is taking place within the mountian regions and all the glasiers that are disappearing. I tend to pay attention to actions more then words and when I can see things going away, then it tells me more then what a scientist suspects. G Global Warming has been going on for at least 200 years, if not longer, ever since a period known to history as The Little Ice Age. Glaciers have been receding for at least the last 200 years. But guess what? Alaskan Glaciers Increasing For The First Time in 250 Years. We're simply in an ongoing weather pattern that has ZERO to do with the human race. Arctic sea ice in 2008 has also increased substantially.

I particularly enjoyed reading Crichton's many examples throughout history where scientific "consensus" ultimately lost out to sound scientific research and overwhelming data.
