Elliott and West games have always been physical and emotional. Nothing new. I have witnessed fans and players from both sides getting out of control. Sounds like West players have something to prove this year. They will definitely be a team that I wouldn't want to play in March. Does the

62nd seed the district? If so, West and East may be a first round game.

 

They seed 1-4 based on the district records. Projection--Elliott will play Morgan and East vs. West at East Carter.

Here's a question for those in attendance, how did Rayburn fare? He seems to be a little under the radar right now. I think he will only get better. Soph I believe.

 

Nice looking sophomore who must be about 6'5". Probably had 10 pts. and 6 rebounds or so.

I thought Elliott looked a little rusty in the first quarter as they made a lot of mistakes and missed free throws. I do believe West is much better then we previously thought and the game did look like it was going to turn into a slug fest, but I dont think the refs were to blame. The young ref did make some mistakes, but it was about even for each team. I think Wests players played a good physical game which was a great strategy and I hated it when #45, dont know his name, got hurt. However Wests fans were very rude screaming and cussing the refs when #45 fell to the floor. I thought he was just flopping at first and I can see why the refs let the game continued, and when they seen that he was hurt they stopped the game. Wests fans were not acting very classy and their coach waited until the whole situation was over then decided he would make a scene and got a technical foul. I am an Elliott fan, but they did not impress me much either. They did not look like the #4 team in the state last night but instead seemed to play in spurts. Hopefully they were just working out early season bugs. Good job West you gave us a good game, and good job Elliott for winning, you just need to tone it up a bit.

Rayborn played well. He is a good shooter and went to the boards more than I thought he would. With some strength he will become a solid player.

Yes--Elliott missed more free throws than I have seen in a while. This was unusual as they were among the state leader's last year in FT%. They also did not shoot well beyond the arc, but probably had a decent shooting percentage because of high % shots on garbage points, hustle points, rebounds, and shots inside 10 ft. But there shooting percentage from 18 ft. out was not very good.

No, the team lost. I don't know why you chose not to answer the question. Wait a minute, yes I do. Young Mr. Rayburn is going to be a good ballplayer if he is any relation to Brandi . Congrats to Elliott on the win. Those Faulkner boys are really tough.

 

 

West Carter lost by 21 points and Rayburn was the 6th best player I seen last night. Those Faulkner boys are tough just like Ferguson and the Knipps. Does that answer your ?

The game plan for West was not a good one. It seemed to be, "we can't beat them, so let's beat on them". That's not basketball, that's something that does not belong on a high school court. There is no room for a game plan to appear, "let's hurt someone since we can't win". I'd hope that was not the coaches' plan, even though it appeared that it was by a few comments that I heard from the West coaching staff. I'm an Elliott Fan and I bleed maroon, but I never want to see any kid hurt, whether from Elliott or from another team. So to hear the JV coach say to hit someone in the face with the ball to get them off of you and the comments from West's fans, that's just sad. Those are kids out on the court, let's always hope they are safe and not EVER cheer for or support one of them getting hurt. I love it, but honestly it's just a game.

I think that before people start bashing players (logan #5) for trying to hurt someone they need to realize that they don't know that person what so ever to make a comment like that. As for the ones that know the game plan. Do you really? Or was this just a typical district game agains the top team and a team that played their heart's out on the floor. For people to say west tried to beat them up alittle is crazy. I think coach webb can see who the stronger (phyiscally, muscular) team is and plus he has alittle experience to know that a smaller team can't come in and muscle around a stronger team and expect to win or compete. Your comments clearly indicate you were not at the game. After the game one of the officials even asked me if I knew what West was trying to pull. All starters were out by a two shot free throw at the 3 minute mark and I know Logan quite well. In fact, he tried to do the same thing in last year's game at Elliott but it wasn't as blatant.

Easy on the Logan stuff guys. He is a kid, 17 years old i believe. He is a very physical player, but I don't think that he is going out onto the court intentionally trying to hurt someone. He is a good kid, and more importantly J.Webb wouldn't allow that to happen. Did things get out of hand the other night? YES. But, even if it were more of the West Carter players, IT WAS BOTH SIDES PLAYING FOOTBALL ON THE COURT. As for the game plan, im sure it was for West to be physical. It's a much better strategy than just playing passive and letting Elliott run you out of the gym. EC is the hunted, and more games will come like this. I'm not condoning dirty play by any stretch of the imagination. I think WC just wanted to match Elliott's intensity (hard to do), and be the aggressor in the game. THE REF'S LET IT GET OUT OF HAND IF ANYONE IS TO BLAME.
