All kidding aside it's good that they are playing hard and competing. They probably still won't make the regional tournament but at least it looks like they have a chance. The last few years they had no chance.

Also how about all those people who said HC would be horrible. The shooting will come eventually. Atleast they are findings ways to stay in and win games without Trimpe, Eastin and Lea shooting consistently from three.

Holmes, CCH, and Beechwood. They obviously can't finish 4th. I could easily see them 2nd or 4th. They can make it but I wouldn't bet on it.

 

I never said they were horrible, but are they good? Can they score? More than a couple of people in the preseason said losing Sorrell wouldn't hurt b/c all of the experience guys have and that they would be able to score.

I never said losing a guy who averaged 28 PPG wouldn't hurt. I was trying to make the point that they would not be as bad as everyone was saying. They have guys who played last year and I think once those guys hit their groove they will be a lot better.

 

As for if they are good or not I don't know they have only played two games. They did go to into a good NCC teams house and beat them in OT. Then played Mason Co hard. I just think they deserve a little more respect then being given right now.

I agree there were a lot of HC people who were saying they would be fine or maybe even better offensively because they'd play more like a team and guys like Trimpe, Volpenhein, Eastin, etc. would be able to score plenty. I think it's safe to say that isn't the case. These guys are also not just going to magically hit stride in the middle of the season. Most of them aren't even getting good looks. What they are doing is taking advantage of a down year in the ninth for a lot of teams, and playing tough, physical, scrappy defense that is keeping them in ball games.

It was a three point game for a while, then a 6-9 point game for the majority of the game. The effort was there the execution wasn't. Plain and simple.

 

A key moment in the game was when the Royals had something like a 3-point lead and turned the ball over on a foul (Downing's third?). HC tried to substitute, but had 6 players on the floor when the ball was put in play. Two FTs by Hamm, two more points on the ensuing posession, and what could have been a 1-point game or a tie game was up to 7.

FTR, that's not a knock on the Indians. They just aren't a good offensive team, and they aren't better without Corey Sorrell. They do a great job of getting after it defensively and making up for a huge lack of size by playing physical. I will say when Mike Sullivan gets back into it he will be a huge help inside.

I don't see how everyone could say how Holy Cross is a bad offensive team. I mean sure they are not nearly as good offensively as last year, but it is hard to make up for 27 points a game. But Holy Cross has only played three games. And as for only 29 points at Mason Co. well Mason county has a starting five of players who are 6"4 or taller. It will be hard for any team to match up with size like that, but the Indians were still able to stay in the game.

If Mason only put up 44, Scott will make their game very challenging for MC
