I wouldn't go that far. Holmes is still the clear favorite. I would put Holmes, then Boone/Highlands, then Ryle, then Cov Cath. Any of these teams can be upset, the battle for #2 will be closer.

 

Right now, Cov Cath shouldn't even be in the discussion.

I don't know, but I like the scheduling. I think it is smart for this Mason County team to schedule the physical, disciplined teams that the 9th Region seems to produce.

The Mason County Royals outscored the Holy Cross Indians 11-2 in the fourth quarter to win

44-29 tonight at The Fieldhouse. The Royals led by as many as 10 points in the second quarter before the Indians cut the lead to five at the half. Holy Cross scored just nine points in the second half. The final margin was the largest of the night. Russ Middleton was the only Mason County player in double figures with 12 points. The Royals play at Scott Friday night.

Lexington Catholic and Madison Central (who beat Clark County tonight) are back-to-back home games in January. Most of the "marquee" matchups are on the road, though.

It was a three point game for a while, then a 6-9 point game for the majority of the game. The effort was there the execution wasn't. Plain and simple.

And it's smart for the 9th region teams to schedule the teams in the 10th and other regions; as its much, much more physical in the 10th, as it is in most regions around the state. 9th region officials call many more touch fouls, which I think often hinders the teams of the 9th when they travel down state, or in the Sweet Sixteen.

Six point game going into the 4th period at the Fieldhouse against the defending state champs isn't eaxctly a blowout??

It was at 6 with about 2:30 left in the game. That's when HC had to start putting a lot of pressure on them which was not in their game plan and that's when they pushed it out. Overall it was a close game all the way through untill those last couple minutes.
