When I saw Holmes this summer they strutted around, didn't like it when anyone guarded them closely, and had very little respect for their opponents. They are VERY talented, but...........

 

I am not a big Holmes fan, but I have to respectfully disagree with you here. I'm not sure what boys you saw, but I did not notice any type of lack of respect in the times I have seen them.

 

I DO agree with you though that this just might be what they needed. They have the talent, but they needed someone to show them they can be beat. And they need Riley to step up and take control. He is a GREAT point guard, and if he can figure out how to lead this team, they will be absolutely fine.

Thanks for posting the box score. Looks like Johnson and Pittman both had a huge game. Unfortunately for Holmes, so did Ashford and Morones.

 

Again, it's going to take a GOOD shooting team to beat Holmes, which is what BS did tonight. Any team that can shoot 11-18 from behind the arc should win a lot of games regardless of who they play.

 

Holmes will be alright though. Like I said earlier...they lost to Male early in the season last year and a lot of people said the same things some of you are saying and all Holmes did was win 27 of their next 28 on their way to the state championship. I find it funny how people are quick to jump on here and say how overrated a team is after one loss...to a TOP 20 TEAM.

 

Holmes will lose some games this year. They might have experience, but they are still young with the Johnson Brothers, Arnold and Pittman. I can guarantee you they'll be at Rupp at the end of the year though.

 

And for some of you saying they're overrated, well the humble pie for you and your team will be twice as good when you actually play some real competition instead of beating up on weak 16th region teams. :sleep:

This was a great early season matchup and I feel privileged to have been there. Holmes actually led 67-65 in the fourth quarter before Bryan Station made their run. It is hard to beat Station when they shoot 11 of 16 from beyond the arc. Holmes brings their own unique challenges as they force you to guard them on every play and will take it to the basket hard. Holmes was 30 of 39 from the free throw stripe and Bryan Station was 19 of 23.

 

Ricardo Johnson was very impressive with 26 points on 7 of 12 from the field including 3 of 5 from beyond the arc and 9 of 11 free throws. Pittman was only 3 of 11 from the field but 12 of 16 from the line. Ashford, Morones, and Richardson all played well for Station with Morones being 6 of 8 from beyond the arc.

 

This game should give Bryan Station a lot of confidence and should help them this season but I don't believe the loss will hurt Holmes--they are an excellent team.

I haven't heard anyone giving Bryan Station any respect preseason. As a matter of fact I saw one of the internet player rankings listing Morones as a junior with a very low ranking. He is a senior and is one of the best guards in the 11th. Ashford gets no respect which is a joke.

 

IMO Morones and Ashford are the best guard combo in the 11th region. Yes, I said it, better than Jackson and Guyn of Scott County. The question is do they have enough help to knock off Scott County?

 

This should be a wake up call. Bryan Station is for real!!!!!!!

If the backcourt of Bryan Station can play like that, it can offset the height and interior play of Scott County.

 

I do agree with you about the Bryan Station backcourt of Morones and Ashford. I have seen Morones during a few regular season games and during AAU. He's legit.

Holmes got beat by a good team. Take your medicine. Everybodies schedule has some easy games and some tough ones. No reason to take shots at schools not even involved in this game.

I talked to Mike and Kayvon last night, and they said station shot the lights out of the ball. I was also told Riley wasn't aggressive. They said the coaches was yelling from the bench for him to let it go, but he stayed passive. I wonder how many attempts him and Arnold had combined. You don't think that it could have possibly been a difference in the level of competition?

It's easy to understand how kids of this age can get over confident and start reading the press clipings of how good their "supposed " to be. They need to just look back a about three years and see what happened to the trio of Rice, Jeffeson, & Hill after their great sophomore run. I believe a loss now could refocus the young Dawgs and they need to remember they have got a bullseye on their back the size of New York because every body wants to beat the best and will bring their A games to the Dawgs. I also know Coach Henley very well and I can tell you he's not happy about his Defense giving up 80+ points. The Dawgs have some tough days ahead of them in the gym with the focus on DEFENSE!
