A couple omissions, IMO.

Not sure how you leave off Engelmon from Conner at WR (63 rec, 773 yds, 7 TD) and take Conner Brock from Dixie (28 rec, 476 yds, 3 TD). This is not meant to be a slam at Brock. I didn't even know he was a WR. I also don't think Collinsworth should have been 1st team WR. Name recognition helps there.

Guidugli from HHS (138-208, 2455 yds, 19 TD, 427 rushing) deserves to be there over Kues (108-191, 1407 yds, 13 TD, 664 rushing).

Not sure why they only picked one 1st team TE and two for 2nd team, but no way you can leave out Tyler Brake from Conner (30 rec, 407 yds, 4 TD). Neither Daniels or (12 rec, 240 yds, 2 TD) or Sullivan (12 rec, 128 yds, 5 TD) had Brake's stats. Brake was without question the top TE in 6A this year .

I also found it odd that no one from SK's OL made it. I don't know their personnel all that well, so maybe they truly didn't have a standout player in that area, but as good as Simpson was (is), he most certainly didn't do it all by himself.

Again, they only took three 1st team DB's, but took four 2nd team DB's for some reason. If there's an open spot, I think Josh Lamping (Safety for Ryle) deserved it, as he had 100 tackles this year.

Thanks for posting this. I did not see it either. That list is hard to argue with. I agree with you concerning Collinsworth. I would have made Van Sant 1st team WR over him. Personally, Kues would be my 1st team QB because in addition to his stats his leadership and decisions on the field are second to none. Those 3 QBs are all so good it is a shame any of the three get left out. Brock started the season at RB and moved to WR about 4 or 5 games into the season so his stats aren't going to look as good, but he is probably the top return man in N. Ky. (along with Kelly from NCC) so I am not going to bash that pick. I also can't bash Daniels selection on offense. He does a lot of moving around from TE to RB to WR on offense for Beechwood so he isn't going to post the numbers like some others, plus he has missed several games with injury and Beechwood did not need to pass much in half their games. Daniels would be the #1 RB on all but a handful of teams in N. Ky. but Beechwood has Teipel. I think the voters wanted to recognize Daniels' offensive ability and TE was where they could slot him in. Leaving a DB with 100 tackles off the teams seems like an oversight but I did not see Ryle play this year so I can't judge that one.

Nice to mention Brake, in the two games I saw, he was a major offensive threat for Conner. I liked what I saw from Conner Brock (one game) but I loved what I saw from Englemon (two games).

Going to be a lot of varying opinions on these overall, but:

I'm not sure how anyone could make the case that Kues provides MORE leadership and better decisions than West or Guidugli. Certainly not West. He is the heart of the Conner team and (my opinion, of course) the clearcut #1 QB in NKY.

Engelmon not being on the WR list is a terrible oversight. With respect to Brock, his numbers simply aren't close and the fact that he's a great return man shouldn't affect the decision in naming the best WR's, a position he didn't even play for half the season.

Same goes for Daniels - not saying he's not a very good player and didn't do other good things offensively, but Brake and Roller were the clearcut top TE's in NKY and their stats prove that.

You start sticking kids into certain spots simply because you want to "recognize them" and it unfairly penalizes other deserving kids. Heck, look at Ricky Buckler from Bellevue - pretty darn good back, right? But he's not Simpson, or Qauinoo, or Kelly, or Tiepel and therefore can't be included because they are all better at that position. Would it be right to stick his name at WR and take out Van Sant simply because you want to recognize him somehow, knowing that Van Sant was already being recognized on defense?

At the end of the day, these picks - much like the NFL's Pro Bowl selections - should represent the best players based on their performance and production during the season. Not that they could have had better stats if they weren't injured, or didn't play multiple positions, or played on a team that throws more, etc.. If you're going to take all that stuff into consideration, then the entire process becomes so subjective as to be pointless.

I also found it odd that no one from SK's OL made it. I don't know their personnel all that well, so maybe they truly didn't have a standout player in that area, but as good as Simpson was (is), he most certainly didn't do it all by himself.

Hansel made the second team.

There are so many good players that you could make cases for that these things will always leave a deserving player off. I did like West being first team QB. Before the season I didn't think there was anyway that he would beat out Guidugli and Kues but after seeing him play I feel he is definitely the right choice.

Good points all around and there will always be differing opinions. If I am starting a team and looking for a QB here in N. Ky. this year, I would take Kues. On the Daniels and Brock points, I agree it wouldn't be fair to just plug someone into a position to recognize them. But both of those players played those postions (WR and TE respectively) a lot during the season so it isn't quite like the Buckler analogy you used. Because of the factors I mentioned, their stats might not be as good as some others but stats alone aren't the be all and end all measuring stick. They are both very good at the positions they were recognized at and obviously good enough that those that watched them considered them the best. These teams always include subjectivity and opinion. The players we both have mentioned are deserving of recognition and it is unfortunate that some very good players don't get recognized on these teams.

Brady Slusher is a man, or on most fields THE MAN!!

Hugely agree with your last point. And most of your post, for the matter. I would disagree on the Kues/West situation, but that's kind of like asking someone if they want a million dollars or a million and one dollars. Win/win all the way around. The only thing I disagree with to some extent is the comment regarding stats. I'll agree that they aren't the absolute and only measuring stick, but when determining who performed the best at each position for that particular season, they mean just about everything. If you're trying to determine who might ultimately be the best player, they mean slightly less because of situations we've already mentioned - injuries, not getting playing time at a certain position, competition levels, type of offense they play on, etc.. But stats at least help make the process somewhat less subjective.

Absolutely ridiculous that Englemon is not first team receiver!!!

When does the NKAC name it's 'all star' team, or is this the same thing?

I don't agree with Quainoo as first team, I am not taking anything away from him but I would take Kelly, if you look at the stats the Quainoo kid has carried the ball at least a hundred more times that Kelly, I would like to see if Kelly got the ball as much as he did what kind of stats he would put up. I think the Quainoo kid is a very good back but I would not take him ove Kelly, just my opinion.

Congratulations to all players mentioned!!!

The stats I see have Quainoo with 245 carries and Kelly with 209. More importantly, Quainoo's yards per carry average is 9.0 to Kelly's 7.5. NCC had other offensive weapons this year, Boone essentially did not and Quanioo carried that team on his shoulders.
