Porter can contribute if he's used as a shooter. He can defend in spurts and he is capable of helping to break a press. He is not a primary ball handler.
Agree with you and he does give effort on defense, in the half court set. If other options are available or develop during the season, Porter can give 3-4 minutes of playing time, several times in each half.

He doesn't shoot the ball well enough to be used as just a shooter. He is no Cameron Mills from the 3 point line. Porter is a decent shooter but has to bring more to the table than just that. He is a horrible ball handler and decision maker. And, if you move Porter to the 2, then where does Meeks play?

I just don't see what Porter can really bring to a team playing at this high of a level.

What about this Landon Slone (sp) kid? Could he be in the mix for playing time?

Maybe there is no one else? You say he is not a PG, I say he is not a SG. So does that mean he is nothing? He is just not very good. Period.

He's a role player that needs to get about 10 minutes a game in spot situations. That's what he is.

Porter doesn't shoot the ball well enough because Kentucky has only run 1 play for him all year. In that 1 play, he came off of a screen, caught the ball and shot it. It was smooth, and he knocked down the shot.

I'm by no means suggesting that we should make Michael Porter the focal point of our offense. But I think he can contribute if he's used as a 2 guard and I have no problem with him taking a couple of shots per game.

Regarding what position Meeks will play: does it matter? The 2 & 3 are pretty much interchangeable in most offenses. Meeks should be able to play the 1, 2 & 3. Not that it matters though, since most of Jodie's time is spent hovering around the 3 point line.

 This is where BG has got to take over. Meeks can be a great scorer, but it does not have to be my the 3.

Meeks is 7th in the nation in scoring and is scoring the majority of his points on 2-point shots and FT's.

No, he's not.

Last I looked he was on the Roster...And proberly starting today against Miami...

Meeks' Stats:

52-117 from the field -- 44.4%

19 - 51 from 3 point range -- 37.3%

49 - 56 from FT -- 87.5%

You can't argue with his stats, with the exception of his assist to turnover ratio. Jodie has 14 assists compared to 32 turnovers.

However, I'd still like to see him take the ball to the basket a little more often. Especially since he's such a good FT shooter.
