Whitley manhandled LCC the first time early, but as game went on they adapted. Learned a great deal from that game. Did they learn enough? I will be there to find out.Good luck to both.

Both teams have changed alot since the first meeting, which was in mid October, we are now in late November. Some of the basic things are the same but each team has evolved and gotten better. This is a good rivalry although only in its early stages is becoming heated very quickly. Home field in this situation will help Whitley. Letcher is used to playing on turf regularly, I know that Letcher has played on grass but it could play a factor. Both schools being out of school will help Letcher but there is no place like home.

I've seen LCC play on turf and grass and they always look much more comfortable and play better on turf. Just curious but why do you think it benefits LCC by not being in school?

I am not saying it will hurt Whitley, but being out of school, LCC can bring the kids in early do a walk through, feed them, and travel at their leisure without having to worry about getting kids out of class and the distraction of being in school prior to such a big game. They could even watch some film, pad up and get focused. It should make it easier to travel being out of school.

 

Whiltey can still mantain their normal pre-game schedule being at home.

LCC would have left school early enough to do all of that anyway IMO. I seen Bath Co. buses at Corbin last week around 4:15 or so last Friday. Whitley wins 28 to 21 I hope but LCC sure has a coach thats been through these before with much success.

There is a reason for that...Hillard Howard - One of the best, if not the best coach in the state.....How he has built that program from scratch is remarkable, but shouldn't be surprising considering his other coaching stop. If he hadn't retired, he'd be #1 all time in wins.

Whitley has had a spectacular turnaround, thanks to some good kids and Coaches; Black, Davis, and Gibbs have done a particularly impressive job this year. I think this will be a great matchup...the old addage that says "it is hard to beat a team twice" is in play, but Whitley pulls off a close on in the end.

Whitley hosts...Letcher travels. The higher seed or even region will host the semi-state. Letcher would obviously be the lower seed than presumptively Highlands from region 3. If Whitley wins they are Region 4 and both them and again assuming Highlands win will be 1 seeds, thus Highlands would make the trip to Gold Bug.
