November 22, 200817 yr Who are you to say that? How in the world can you objectively and definitively say whether or not someone "deserves" to live? The same way YOU have just judged HIS value system. If we're going to play the "who are YOU to judege xxx?" game, then who are YOU to judge another BGP poster's value system? He made a value judgement. So have you. You can't condemn him for that, without making a value judgement of your own....
November 22, 200817 yr What if this man were to escape from prison (as odd as it is, it does happen occasionally) ? Who's to say that he wouldn't kill more innocent people ? Or worse, pardoned by some liberal politician (a la Dukakis).
November 22, 200817 yr EDDYVILLE, Ky. — Kentucky has executed a confessed child-killer who resisted all appeals. In the state's first execution in nine years, 37-year-old Marco Allen Chapman was given a lethal injection Friday at the Kentucky State Penitentiary. He was pronounced dead at 7:34 p.m. CST. He's gone. He got BETTER than he deserverd...
November 22, 200817 yr But what purpose does punishment from humans serve? Obviously, when you punish a child, it is so they learn a lesson. However, the death penalty is a punishment that has no earthly lesson- it ends life. The only punishment that matters is from God above. Our punishment is meaningless and I feel that it is inappropriate- we are in no position to feel who should live and who should die He felt he had the right to choose as he shot that family. Cops feel they have the right when they shoot people. It's a personal opinion and you will not change anyone's view on it. He deserves to have his life taken from him, simple as that.
November 22, 200817 yr After he dies I'd be glad to spit on his grave. I hope it's slow and painful. It's done.
November 22, 200817 yr ^ I can not believe you typed that....I was reading through this thread, waiting until the bottom to post the EXACT SAME THING....that's great.
November 22, 200817 yr The methods of execution are so BORING nowadays. I was watching a program on History Channel this week about Vlad the Impaler who impaled his victims by inserting a spike in the rear end and running it upward through the body and out the mouth. That would probably make people think twice about committing heinous crimes. Some "interesting" methods of execution I found while surfing the net: Brazen Bull - It was a large brass bull that was completely hollow inside with a door on the side large enough for a man to enter. Once the man was inside the bull, a fire would be lit beneath it in order to roast him to death Drawing and Quartering (disembowling) Burning at the stake Ling Chi - execution by slow cutting - In the execution, the criminal is slowly cut in the arms, legs, and chest, until finally they are beheaded or stabbed in the heart. Breaking Wheel - The criminal would be attached to a cart wheel and his arms and legs stretched out along the spokes. The wheel would be made to turn while a heavy metal bar or hammer would deliver bone breaking blows to various parts of the body between the spokes. Boiling - In execution by boiling, the condemned is stripped naked and either placed in a vat of boiling liquid, or in a vat of cold liquid which was then heated to boiling. The liquid could be oil, acid, tar, water, or molten lead. Flaying - Execution by Flaying is when the skin of the criminal is removed from their body with the use of a very sharp knife Necklacing - Necklacing is a type of execution in which a rubber tyre is filled with gasoline, forced over the arms and chest of the victim, and set alight Sawing - In Execution by sawing, the criminal would be hung upside-down and a large saw would be used to cut their body in half, starting with the groin, all the way to the head Goring - The victim is tied to a chair and a television is placed in front of the victim. The condemned is then forced to watch Al Gore preach endlessly about the sensationalized dangers of global warming until he is ultimately bored to death.
November 22, 200817 yr IMO what would killing him achieve? Nothing would ever replace my children, but I would have the feeling knowing that atleast he paid for what he done, with his life and burn in :fire: If this had happed to your children and wife how would you feel? Would you forgive him? I might not be able to forgive them, but I'm not sure executing them would help me either.

November 22, 200817 yr The death penalty is not revenge if you do not want it to be. If a person kills for no reason, there is a good chance he will do it again. Do you want a killer walking among us with a chance he/she may do it again? I personally do not. I am not one to quote the bible, but the bible does say an eye for an eye. It is all your beliefs that make it "right" or "wrong".

There is a show on Discovery about midevil weapons. It had the bull and the wheel on there. Some of them are just insane, and it showed that the bull would hurt way worse than just being baked because the metal you would be laying on would heat to over 1000 degrees so you would also esentially be pan fried as well.
November 22, 200817 yr What makes me scratch my head is that they swab the arm with alcohol before giving the lethal injection... what are they afraid of??? infection? I no of one death row inmate actually pleading to the Supreme Court to change the lethal injection mixture of drugs because he claimed that it was painful. How did he know? I can not remember how they ruled though. But yeah, it could be considered cruel and unusual punishment.

He made a value judgement. So have you. You can't condemn him for that, without making a value judgement of your own.... The only difference is that my judgment does not result in taking someone's life....I am not condemning anyone. I am just speaking of how we have no right to undermine God by taking away His gift to us. He felt he had the right to choose as he shot that family. Cops feel they have the right when they shoot people. It's a personal opinion and you will not change anyone's view on it. He deserves to have his life taken from him, simple as that. Cops feel they have the right to shoot people to keep others from dying. When our society has the means to lock someone up 24/7, then the death penalty is unnecessary. It has gotten to the point where we kill just for killing's sake. How can you say "he deserves to have his life taken from him." I assume that you are a staunch supporter of people who blow up abortion clinics. Because those terrorists make the same judgment call that you do. I do not know the ultimate right and wrong. All I can do is try to do what is right, and try and interact with others to find what is right. I will consistently fail at times. That is human nature. I do not think that humans, as infallible as we are, are capable of making judgment calls that result in the death of other. That is why murder is so wrong... The death penalty is not revenge if you do not want it to be. If a person kills for no reason, there is a good chance he will do it again. It is all your beliefs that make it "right" or "wrong". I am not in favor of lesser punishments for criminals. I do not feel that around the clock isolation is cruel punishment. And, in the event that someone does continue to kill although imprisoned, the death penalty is the only resource left that society has and I do not have a problem with that. However, the current state permits that we have other, more ethical ways of dealing with the incarceration of criminals.

Just because someone is in jail doesn't mean that they will be there forever, there are jail breaks and everything. If you are sentenced to life in prison then you are not getting out so why let them live? If it is 100% that they did it then I don't want my tax dollars paying for someone that killed someone.... You can try to justify as much as you want but as I said when it comes to my FAMILY, they come first and if something were to happen to them then you better believe I want to see that person's life taken from them the same way he or she took my family's life.
