Did the Raiders utilize the A11 tonight? If so, did it cause any problems for the Tigers?

 

Yes they did. Trimble came out the first 3 series and was in doulble tight bone and had zero success and fumbled 3 times that lead to a big lead 21-0 for Beechwood within th efirst 5 minutes of the game and then TC got inthe A-11 and was able to move the ball and got several first downs. QB Larry Sullivan had a good night as he has 17 of 24 for 123 yards and ran the ball 16times for 91 yards. Someome needs to take a look at him.

Daniels and Tiepel didn't play at all in the second half. Tiepel did have his pads and helmet but Dainels was in a hoodie after half.

 

I have watched these kids for a few yrs now and I think this is the worst I have seen play. There was no excitement, no passion, and no personality with this team. I think the seniors need to step up and give this team some swagger(I say this because my son is a senior). They are all great kids and I love having them around my house but they need to have fun playing football. To me they don't look like they are having fun. Last yrs team looked like they had a ball even in close games or the games they lost.

 

Last night even when TC fumbled the ball and Beechwood recovered it and scored, they didn't seem to enjoy it. TC might have been part of the problem becuase they played hard all night. There are many good players on that team to be so young and they will only get better because of last evening. I told a few of the TC kids that I enjoyed the way they played after the game. Lots of heart with that team.

 

Beechwood had better get a few things fixed or kids healthy quick or the season might be over way too early. They have the talent to repeat but they need to enjoy it and enjoy being kids playing football.

Also you have 50 10-12 graders and Trimble has 24 9-12 graders Trimble was without there starting frshman WR and back up QB #2 Skiler Alexander and that hurt them early.

Daniels was in sweats for the second half, Tiepel came in for one series on D when # 35s helmet was being tended, #56 did play all but last 4 minutes, if 35 played the whole game then Tiepel played none, past 2 or 3 weeks, our powers to be have not seen the benifit of having both in the game at the same time, not that I agree, maybe they did tandem once or twice but I missed it.

As far as your numbers go, we have built that over time, and year after year there is a new group waiting to step in and up. This has been part coummunity part school pride. There are very few grammer school kids that don't dream of being a Football Tiger you can see it all over Fort Mitchell. And a powerful youth football program paves the way for all this to come together.

TC played hard all night.They could of easily gave up after the first 6 minutes being such an underdog.I was impressed with that .Just as an FYI,BW had the freshman dressed last night as they do throughout the playoffs every year(about 25 extra players).The kid who kicked off was a freshman(14).These young men gain experience practicing every week ,being used as the "SCOUT"team.The junior class only consist of about 9 players.

Daniels did not play in the second half(23).Teipel (44) played very little.Colosimo(35)played sparingly early,mainly on defense .He played more late ,when he scored.

Like I said earlier ,I give all the credit to the Raiders for not giving up.BW play another team earlier this that got down quick and just gave up.That shocked me for as high ranked as they were.It is also impressive to be that young.Best of luck in offseason training.Maybe we will see you next year.:thumb:

I would like to address the comments about the team being "flat" or being without passion or excitement....TAKE A LOOK IN THE STANDS!!!! That appeared to be one of the poorest attended games this year. So, were the 'fans' so over confident that we were going to blow out the Raiders that they could not even come to support our boys in their 1st playoff game. As it has been said and witnessed many times, ANYTHING CAN HAPPEN DURING THE PLAYOFFS. Our boys need to see the support in the stands and they need to HEAR the support from the stands. It seems that we maybe are just witnessing the trickle effect........I think the community, families and fans need to be the ones to step it up a notch. Maybe Coach could have a practice with you and remedy that for us?

I for 1 agree.I am shocked at the lack of fan support the last 2 years early in the playoffs.I heard 1 parent comment last night about this.They do not have a player and were still there to support the Tigers.It seems it has become expected to make it to state .It has become expected to make it to state because the WHOLE COMMUNITY has backed the team .I am not saying the does not have the support of the community,I believe they do.I am saying it does not show in the stands.JMO

Good effort TC. The future is bright for Coach Poynter and his Raiders.

I may be in the minority by saying the kids need to play for each other and not who is in the stands. I know my son has no idea if I am there or if anyone is in the stands. I was on the sidelines once when he got hurt this year and he never knew I was there. When he comes off the field he looks for the coach. I think he plays more for Dom, Jake, Nico, and the others much more than he does for me or whoever is in the stands. I think he plays for the coaches, the school, and his teammates. I think most kids play for that reason. Now I have no doubt that he would rather play in front of a full house but I also believe that once the game starts he has no idea about the crowd.

 

I do agree that crowds are down and maybe that is because there are so many things going on today the Friday night football game isn't the highlight of the week. I even think the crowds at the Dixie and CovCath games were down too. The first year he played, I bought reserved seats just to have a place to set during those games. I think there was another thread about crowds being down and why. I for one don't know or understand it because high school sports are still one of the only pure sports left. There are no huge contracts, no bowl games at the end of the year that make your school millions, just your teammates, coaches, family, and friends at the end of the game to tell you how much they love you and what a good game it was.

I guess you have a different kind of kid and relationship with him. I would say that at least 90% of all kids who play a sport, an instrument, have a part in a play, sing, are on the academic team or anything else I may have left out, knows when their family is and IS NOT in attendance. Now, I also believe that they should do these things 1st for the passion inside of them, then for their coaches, teammates, school and community. You can not tell me that when the defensive line is on the 1 yard line in an all out battle to hold the opposing team from scoring, that the fans in the stands (of which you say they have no idea who is in the stands) are a HUGE FACTOR in motivating the battle. I'm not arguing about WHO, all I'm saying is that not as many showed this past Friday night, and the excitement within the ones that were there is lacking. JMO

As to Beechwood crowds, I think they have been down a little this year. I know it is a small school, but with the years of success and alumni in the area, I expect more. If the fans and alumni had 10% as much committment to the team as the players, there would not be an empty seat in the stadium.

 

As to last Friday night, I think a big part of the smaller than expected crowd was the band being out of town at Nationals. In a small school with a band as successful as Beechwood's, that takes quite a few parents and students out of the stands. I also am sure there were fans who stayed away knowing this would be a comfortable win. Add in the out of town opponent and that takes away some fans. This Friday against Ludlow, the stands will be full. If Beechwood beats Ludlow, the stadium better be packed for Frankfort. I want to see Frankfort fans sitting on that hillside because no seats are available. Bring your blankets with you Panther fans.

 

I think you will see a much more enthusiastic team on the field this Friday also.

Do most of you all relaize that the A-11 offense has been around for years. The A-11 is the Cornfield Spread. And the muddle huddle in which some teams line up in before shifting to kick an extra point. It's nothing new it's just been copyrighted and is now being ran by a lot of teams.

I assumed because Beechwood went to Frankfort last year that it would be in N. Ky. this year. Thanks for the info. I am packing the car now so I get a good seat.
