November 14, 200817 yr Kept hearing this rumor today that she is on the short list?? That would make interesting bedfellows (no pun intended)?? Better than some Dem insider like Kerry IMO, but would she take the "power demotion" to become esentially subordinate to the Pres??
November 14, 200817 yr Everything he's done thus far has made me think he's going to surround himself with big-time liberals....Don't think this should come as a surprise.
November 14, 200817 yr I personally think this would be a good move for Obama. It would be a good move but I don't think that Hilary is the type to take orders, shes the type that likes to give them. She'll turn down the job if shes offered, I guarantee it.
November 14, 200817 yr I think Hillary may be too conservative on foreign policy for Obama's tastes. Code Pinkos will not be happy if Obama names a SOS that supported the Iraq War.
November 14, 200817 yr I doubt that Hillary would want to be SOS. She probably feels that she could better serve her own interests by remaining a Senator. I also doubt that Obama would really want her as SOS. I suspect that this news leak is intended to ameliorate the hard feelings of some Hillary supporters by giving the impression that Obama is considering her for a post in his administration. I seriously doubt that Obama would actually offer the job to her since I think he puts a high priority on loyalty to him and I think he would worry that he would not be able to keep Hillary on the reservation.

I don't know. 8 strong years at Secretary of State would better prepare her for a Presidential run in 2016 than a Senate position for the same amount of time. They get peace somewhere and the Clintons will be taking the credit instead of giving it to Obama. From the Clintons perspective, how much talk has been about her in the past month. No, it is about Obama, Reid and Pelosi. She could very easily become a background player and out of the spotlight. And out of the spotlight is a very uncomfortable spot for the Clintons.
November 14, 200817 yr I think Hillary would be ok as SOS. And expotentially better than Kerry. I think it would be a team approach and that would be good as Bill is as loved overseas as anyone. Dem side should use that to their benefit.
November 14, 200817 yr I think Hillary would be ok as SOS. And expotentially better than Kerry.I agree. Being Secretary of State would not fit Kerry's schedule. Secretaries of State are expected to show up for work on a regular basis. Missing meetings with heads of state would not go unnoticed the way that Kerry's missed Senate votes do. Being a Secretary of State, even a bad one, is a lot of work. Regardless of my differences with her on policy, Hillary is smart and she works hard.

November 14, 200817 yr :thumb: I think she'd command respect in the world since she's Bill's "wife". Not on her own merits?
November 15, 200817 yr Not on her own merits? She wasn't elected as Senator from NY in her first term on her own merits.
