November 14, 2008 - Newport takes a trip to Louisville to play DeSales in the first round of the playoffs - does anybody have any thoughts on this one?

I don't know either team well enough to make a real prediciton, but I'm rooting for DeSales, our local boys, and a nostalgic pick for me.

Newport will have a tough time with this one

IMO Newport is playing well and i think they force some turnovers and win it in a close on

Newport has played some very physical teams this year look for it to be a good game.

Good first-round matchup. I give the nod to DeSales at home, 28-21.

Newport will have step it up this week and play some "D" Newport has not been able to stop the run all year but they have shown improvement as of late. Collins will have to be smart with the football he has threw a few up for grabs this year, Newport will have to get some turnovers. The "O" line of Newport will need to do better run blockin for Short he is a quick hard nose runner but needs some holes to run threw.

What's on the agenda for Newport's pep rally on Thursday?

Don't know much about DeSales but I'm going with Newport cause they are close to home.

I honestly think it all comes down to which team comes out of the locker room for Newport. Is it going to be the team that Only lost by 6 to Holy Cross in overtime on Holy Crosses senior night or is it the Newport team that came out against Scott or Lloyd and lost by bigger margins.

 

Overall, I think that Newport definately has the talent to win this game in an upset fashion, but they will have to play good.

Why is this game at Southern High School ? Doesn't Desales have a field if their own ? They are a catholic school so one would think they had their own facilities ... Anyone know ???????
