Newport won the game against Scott 28 to 7

 

O, my bad I mixed the game score up because I didn't go to the game but saw the score and must have read it wrong. Thanks.:lol:

Why is this game at Southern High School ? Doesn't Desales have a field if their own ? They are a catholic school so one would think they had their own facilities ... Anyone know ???????

 

Well actually it is the Catholic Schools that usually don't have their own facilities because they have to pay for it all themselves with donations and such....The Public Schools get their facilities primarily from the city, I believe.

Newport (4-6) at DeSales (8-2)

Last season, the DeSales Colts were one of the best Class 2A teams in Kentucky, as they advanced all the way to the semifinals of the state playoffs before losing to Newport Central Catholic.

 

This year, DeSales cruised through its district winning by an average score of 42-12 against their district opponents.

 

While DeSales hasn't lost a district game all season, Newport, on the other hand, failed to win any in district play.

 

However, that doesn't mean the Wildcats haven't been playing well. Newport has won three of its last five games and was competitive in losses to district foes Newport Catholic and Holy Cross.

 

"We are playing our best football the last five weeks and no one expects us to do anything," Newport head coach Jim Hyder said. "I will tell you what, I wouldn't want to play us in the playoffs right now."

 

Throughout the season, Newport's defense has played well, but much of its recent success is due to its offense being able to put together long drives.

 

One of the reasons for the improvement is due to progression made by junior quarterback Cody Collins, who had never played varsity football until this season.

 

The kickoff will be at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 14 at Louisville Southern High School.

DeSales has never had a home field. Lou. St.X didn't have a home field until last year. X rented Manual Stadium from the County for years and shared the dates with Manual. DeSales now has the same arrangement with Manual. I'm guessing Manual is playing at home this week which forced DeSales to look for another site.
