November 9, 200817 yr Just as yours is an opinion. That is the whole crux of the debate. Until someone SCIENTIFICALLY defines when life begins it is a matter of opinion. I'll stick with what I believe to be God's view of it.
November 9, 200817 yr I'll stick with what I believe to be God's view of it. Fine, then don't choose it for yourself, but do you have a monopoly on God's opinion? Do you speak God's will?? Are you much like Henry VIII who said, God guides me, so no evil thought comes to my mind, therefore whatever I think. . . is God's will.

I'm not sure why you're taking such an issue with my opinion. I specifically said" I'll stick with what I believe to be God's view of it". Not sure where your getting all that other stuff from.

By making that statement and others' that you have had regarding the newly elected leadership you seem to imply that you Know that Abortion is a sin and therefore should be illegal and that you and others will struggle with Obama b/c he is pro-choice. If your argument is more cultural than religious, what is the cultural argument?

If your argument is more cultural than religious, what is the cultural argument?I implied NOTHING. I have said that it IS a sin to abort a child and in my opinion, it's murder. I said nothing of speaking God's will, you came up with that one.
November 9, 200817 yr I implied NOTHING. I have said that it IS a sin to abort a child and in my opinion, it's murder. I said nothing of speaking God's will, you came up with that one. So for those catholics who think contraception is a sin, especially the pill, should it be outlawed just the same? Why is this "sin" the focus? If it is a matter of belief, without a cultural impact argument that is non-religious, why is it the defining sin and not others.
November 9, 200817 yr So for those catholics who think contraception is a sin, especially the pill, should it be outlawed just the same? Why is this "sin" the focus? If it is a matter of belief, without a cultural impact argument that is non-religious, why is it the defining sin and not others. Because abortion is murdering a child. We believe that a life begins at conception. Contraceptives prevents one from becoming pregnant, abortion occurs after one is pregnant.
November 9, 200817 yr Because abortion is murdering a child. We believe that a life begins at conception. Contraceptives prevents one from becoming pregnant, abortion occurs after one is pregnant. Most pills prevent a fertilized egg (conception) from attaching to the uterine wall. A zygote/fetus is then flushed out of the system. The water has now gotten murky. What does it mean to you that I disagree? What rights do I have given my disagreement? Is my opinion just disgarded in your ideal world??
November 9, 200817 yr EVERYTHING is permissable, but not everything is beneficial. Abortion is not murder. How do you get "abortion is not murder", from this scripture. Also you should read the entire chapter. Paul is speaking of sexual immorality.
November 9, 200817 yr Just as yours is an opinion. That is the whole crux of the debate. Until someone SCIENTIFICALLY defines when life begins it is a matter of opinion. So the biblical definition doesn't count for you? It is apparent that you must not believe that scripture is the inerrant Word of God. If you don't, then that is why we will never agree on this and other points of contention such as homosexuality, etc. and it is pointless to continue to debate these issues when you don't hold the Word of God up as the final authority. The bible says life begins at conception---period. However, the Lord will have to open your eyes to this truth. No one else can do it.
November 9, 200817 yr Because abortion is murdering a child. We believe that a life begins at conception. Contraceptives prevents one from becoming pregnant, abortion occurs after one is pregnant. This is not completely true. Oral contraceptives work, in part, by preventing a fertilized egg from attaching to the uterine wall.
November 9, 200817 yr This is not completely true. Oral contraceptives work, in part, by preventing a fertilized egg from attaching to the uterine wall. This point is very valid. Many forms of contraceptives are abortifacient.
November 9, 200817 yr The bible says life begins at conception---period. However, the Lord will have to open your eyes to this truth. No one else can do it.I'm pro-life too; but just curious about something. Where in the Bible does it specifically say that life begins at conception? Also, where does it specifically mention abortion? I'm not saying it doesn't; just looking for specific scripture on the subject. And again, I'm not looking for scripture about murder that one then ties to the abortion issue.
November 9, 200817 yr Author I want to mention that I realized that I failed to capitalize "he" when referring to God but it was too late to edit it.
