Boone was throwing the ball more earlier in the year. They have suffered some injuries at QB.

 

Yep. Since their starting qb got hurt, it has been run, run, run. The kid that stepped in against Dixie did a good job with a few passes to keep the defense honest. However, they lost a good bit of the offense when the starting went down against SK.

Boone has lost there starting qb. The new qb is in his fourth game as a starter and working hard to improve. People that are not at games and do not know what the injury situation is should withhold comments about the personal and the offensive attack. I feel the coachs are doing what is needed to win the games they are playing.

Tough loss! I'm looking forward to the playoffs.... Didn't get to make the game but sure wish i would have made the trip.

I agree Boone needs to have a more balanced offense, but you have to think about what happened. The Rebels were leading the game in the 4th quarter by 2 scores with 4 minutes left in the game. The rebels were pounding the ball down their throat the whole game but MC stepped up in the last minuets to make big plays. What can you say it was ashame either team had to lose that game. Looks like boone can play with some of the top teams around.

The preparation to avoid the situation comes long before the Friday night ballgame. It is getting say two freshman quarterbacks, a couple of sophomore quarterbacks, juniors, and seniors and working with them on simple quarterback drills. Drop back passing, roll out passing, ball handling, play fakes, etc. etc. etc. Finding good athletic receivers to run precise routes and catch the football. The athletes are there......use them! It is not that difficult.

 

I have only seen Boone County in person once this season. Disappointing! I am really disappointed in most the 6A schools who do not much to prepare themselves for opportunities to win a state championship. Boone County is my whipping child right now because they have the tradition, the facilities, and the athletes to win a state championship, but seem content running the tailback 50 times a game. This is not due to injury. I have seen it over and over, year after year. I saw last year's quarterback (Bogle?) as a sophomore and the kid had great potential running and throwing the football. Yet in his senior season, Cory Farris ran it 40 times a game and Bogle would throw on third on long.

 

I want to see the Boone Counties, the Dunbars, the Henry Clays, the Bryan Stations, the Clark Counties, the Lafayettes, the Tates Creeks, the Madison Centrals, the Ryles, etc. etc. not only contend for a state title, but beat one of our Catholic friends over in Louisville. The first step is to create a team (trust me, their is plenty of talent in these schools, in fact, possibly more than walk the halls of the Trinitys and St. Xs) that is competitive and can stay within two touchdowns of those perennial state champions. Give yourself a chance to put some pressure on them instead of playing from three or four touchdowns behind in the first quarter.

You preach a nice sermon, but be honest with yourself. The high schools that have to abide by district ruling as to who attends their schools will always be a step behind the St. X, Trinity, and other non-confined programs. I have several first hand conversations with coaching assistants from the non-confined schools from Kentucky and Ohio, and they take every advantage of being able to go outside the area to bring talented athletes. I agree with you that there's talent in these other schools that should be able to compete, but the depth of talent is where the difference comes in. You can bang on Boone, Ryle and the other district restricted schools all you want, but if they had open enrollment, that released this talent confinement, a powerhouse program could be built immediately. NKY6A has several talented athletes that spreads among several teams, and I think all the coaches do a great job to make it a competitive conference which is more enjoyable to watch than a single dominating team in a district. That just my strong opinion.
