November 4, 200817 yr What has caused the panic? Let's keep things in perspective. "Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I fear no evil; for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me. " (Psalm 23) How can people really be afraid of an Obama Presidency? As I posted in another thread, he'll be up for re-election in 4 years. We will be watching his every move. Can he really destroy the country without us knowing? Whatever he does can be undone. It took a Carter to bring us Reagan. Why are we so scared?

May be not without us knowing but if he has a better then 60 vote senate with a strong hold no the house what are you going to do to stop him? Liberal's think his ideas are good for the country. They aren't going to help you. He will also get a couple more crazies on the supreme court. You can know all about it but what will you do to stop it?
November 4, 200817 yr Even though I do not fear an Obama (or McCain) presidency, this is an excellent point, as I mentioned earlier in another thread. :thumb:

He won't do anything crazy to jeopardize his next term. Furthermore, someone else mentioned that many Rep's and Sen's are up for re-election in 2 years. They won't jeopardize their careers if we make it clear to them that anything crazy means no more job. Even if he does all that he wants to, so what? I trust in the Lord and really am not worried about him. I can't fear the man. In fact, I hope I am wrong and his policies do well for this country. I don't think they will, but I'd love for this country to prosper. People just hate and fear the guy so much, I just don't understand it. I hope someone can clarify it for me.

Let me be clear, I don't fear or hate the man. And I think this country will survive 4 years of him. What I fear is the thought of the next President trying to undo all the harm he will do. I also fear more of my money going to the government in hard times. The man is a socialist plain and simple. Whether anyone wants to admit or not. Call it fear mongering if it makes you feel better (not you cch specifically) but it is what it is.

Lifetime appointed, activist, the-constitution-can-mean-anything-we-want-it-to Judges. It will take 40 years or more of exclusively Republican rule to clean up that mess.

The judges he nominates will shape the judiciary for years to come, well after he is just a bad memory. Who wants to bet that if Republicans try to block his appointments the way the Dems did Bush that the fillibuster is voted down quickly?
November 4, 200817 yr Count me among those that are a little apprehensive about one party getting complete control of both the Executive and Legislative branches ... but if it happens, the Republicans have only themselves to blame.

I do not really "fear" either candidate and I think anyone who legitimately fears either one is overreacting.

If Obama and the Democrats grant blanket citizenship to illegal immigrants, it really will not matter whether there is an election if four years or not. Those who believe that Obama cannot do irreparable harm to our society in four years are mistaken.
November 4, 200817 yr I don't fear an Obama presidency as much as I fear the Dems having complete control. I would say the same if it was the GOP having control of both.
November 4, 200817 yr Author Let me be clear, I don't fear or hate the man. First of all, I am confused as to how wealth distribution is socialism. I don't see the central planning & government ownership. But that's another matter. The best thing that comes out of wealth distributive policies is that they work. I'll take it. The worst thing that comes out of wealth distributive policies is that they fail horribly. America reacts and realizes what needs to be done- the GOP goes back to its roots. Judges, judges, judges, judges, judges, judges, judges, judges, judges, judges, judges, judges, judges, judges, judges, judges, judges, judges, judges Did I mention Judges? Lifetime appointed, activist, the-constitution-can-mean-anything-we-want-it-to Judges. It will take 40 years or more of exclusively Republican rule to clean up that mess. So you are scared? I am as anti-abortion as they come, but I realize a few things: First of all, it all rests in the hands of God. Like I said, I shall not fear. Secondly, more can probably be done about abortion through our individual efforts then laws. I would never, never support a pro-abortion candidate, but I maybe a bunch of "good-for-nothing" libs on the court will make us realize that we need to do more individually to end infanticide. There is a bright side to everything. The tone of this board of doom and disaster is disturbing to me, because I couldn't live with the pessimism.
November 4, 200817 yr I guess we'll all just see how this plays out for the next 4/8 years with Obama. I voted for him in the primary, and was onboard because he seemed like a positive choice. But then I looked at some details. 1) I don't know what he stands for, other than "change". He's been very vague. 2) I never trust the one with the most money, for those "debts" must somehow be repaid. I was sorely disappointed when he broke his vow of public financing. 3) He doesn't have the money to do what he wants, which means he's getting it from me somehow, likely taxes. 4) I don't like all the shady characters in his life, some he still has contact with today. He doesn't give legit answers to questions about this subject, and even accuses detractors of dirty politics, even if they just quote his own words. 5) He played the "race card" in a pre-emptive strike, kinda sleezy. 6) Look at his senate elections, lots of lawsuits against his opponents, shenanigans etc there. 7) The media is so biased I jus don't know what they are hiding. Where can yu fins the truth if the news suppresses it. 8) If Dems control all 3 branches, I will be very nervous. He has some radical ideas that may come out if he yields that kind of power, especially if he gets a 2nd term. 9) What's up with his family? He has little contact with his half brother, his aunt, his paternal grandmother (who said he was born in Kenya). What's up with his bizarre family structure, and why is he ostracized by so many. 10) Wealth redistribution. He downplays it, but look back at his views as a lawyers and a professor. That is scary. Add to that the other democrats with very extreme views, ie Barney Frank, etc. They wan't to buy out my 401K, rob the rich and give to the poor (I don't want there money unless I earn it) and bankrupt KY's coal industry. Obama's words, not mine. There are probably many more things, but since I was an Obama supporter until a few months ago, I don't have all the negatives engrained in my memory yet. The proof will be in the pudding. I am not worried about it, which was my view with Bush. I knew he was horrible, but it took 4/8 years to show his short-comings. I suspect the same will happen here, assuming the news reports it the same way.
November 5, 200817 yr Judges, spreading the wealth, and capital gains tax increases. Along w/ a host of other things.
