I realize that you stated in an earlier post that you did not mean to slam anyone and that is fine with me, no problem. I just wanted to say that imo there is no one "living their lives through a football team" as you put it. What I do see is parents, fans and a community supporting their high school football team, school, coaches admin and players.

 

There was a slogan down here a few years ago that says it best (and it really has nothing to do with winning or losing, rather a feeling about our h.s. football) that went like this....."After All of These Years if I Have to Explain Raceland Rams Football to you.....Then you Wouldn't Understand."

We support our Rams wholeheartedly if they go 10-0 or if they go 1-9. You will also find this kind of devotion at any school that has a deep football tradition. Just ask the Beechwood fans or the ones from NCC or Danville or Mayfield, Etc.

Oldrambler, Mrs. Sidelinedoc has prepared two 11x15 dishes of dirt cake for the boys. I tried to have some at lunch, but she denied me.

 

I fixed 2 pots of chili last night and she is putting them on to simmer this afternoon to be ready for the boys.

 

Of course, she'll be making John Scott's favorite, the Buffalo Chicken dip after school is out.

Re-read post #35. That is a slam...."Most of them are living their lives through a football team"? We are supporting them, not living through them. We are a small Idependent school in Greenup County and have been ardant football fans even when we were 4-6. We don't have many losing seasons since 1926, and don't want anymore. Raceland fans will be supportive each and every year, no matter our record and no matter our opponent.

 

I am not mad at anyone, it's just not fair to slam us on this thread for no reason.

I played for Coach Lucas at GCHS and graduated in 1986. I am currently the team doctor for Raceland athletics. My kids go to Raceland and so I refer to Raceland as we and/or us. My brother-in-law, Jim Music played for Coach Ross and graduated in 1993. I love it at Raceland, they consider me one of them and it's a great situation.

Since we are fortunate enough to still be playing, our senior meal will go on again this Thursday at 5pm. We have decided to have chili again this week due to the weather.

Hey Doc, shouldn't you add some pasta to that - carbs are very good the day before a game. I teach Nutrition/Wellness and that seems to be what they say about Sports Meals. You could add rice or even spaghetti and make it Cincinnati Chilli 5 way

Can't call it Lexington chili either.......remember the arch enemy, LCA? We'll have to find a way to incorporate Raceland chili into the menu though. Yes, Mom55 you are right about carb loading the day before a game. But with the weather, I am more worried about a hot meal than Carbs.

Better add some hot chocolate to the menu.
