Does the World Series time need to be moved

Featured Replies

2 things here for me:

1. I sat up until almost 2:00 A.M. the other morning watching the series. I can handle it but I thought about how much I LOVED MLB as a kid and how this is TERRIBLE for kids. I really think MLB needs to take a look at an earlier start time.

2. It was under 40 degrees tonight. With the way the weather has changed do they need to bump it up a few weeks? This isn't baseball weather! It's a perfect night for football!

I really feel bad for the kids when I think about what a bummer it would have been for me growing up being that tired in school because I wouldn't have missed it:)

I agree with you stick. The only reason the probably dont start it earlier would be that the ratings would be even worse than they already are. Not many people would be able to watch the game started at noon or say 3 because people usually work til 5.

the 2am end time was a result of a rain delay though.

Rain delay that night, suspended tonight. You can't predict the weather but it was 40 tonight. I think 7:00 at the latest would be a good start time. If it's on the West Coast then I can see bumping it up. I think they should look at the time zones and schedule accordingly. I like baseball (was crazy about it when I was growing up) but I think it is robbery to the little kids when it runs as late as it does. It is tough because if they play the game it's late and if they suspend it then it's bull for the crowd. I don't know the answer but I think they need to look at it.

:thumb: I agree stick, 7:00 would be a much better start time. It's a real shame that the kids have to miss the World Series just so the TV stations can get their ratings.

I think it should be moved, especially when it features two East Coast teams. What's the point in doing it at 8:00 on the East Coast?

Not only that, but the first pitch is never before 8:30. It needs to be moved up.

I don't know about you, but I rather enjoy hearing what the bat boy had for lunch and the struggle the clubouse manager went through when he couldn't find grape flavored big league chew before the game. Those are pre-game shows I just can't live without.

I do agree, they need to shorten the season and start the World Series/playoff games around 7-730PM eastern.

I am not sure that is possible. In the USA Today (yesterday) the first three games drew very little attention, including a 6.1 Saturday night, which breaks the all-time low. I am not sure last night was much better (maybe worse) having to compete with MNF and Dancing With the Stars.

I think with the weather situation, there is a bit more intrigue for tonight. I just checked weather.com and the weather is iffy for tonight.

Or they just need to start on time.

It won't get moved up because of the West Coast...

Personally, I'm shocked that Major League Baseball is allowing Philly to host the World Series with all of the inclement weather. I thought for sure they'd move the game to the Marlin's stadium. And it wouldn't matter that Tampa and Miami are only an hour or two away, because I've heard that the "small market" Rays have swept the nation by storm and have fans everywhere in the continental United States!

Unfortunately, this is baseball weather. That's why spring training is in Arizona and Florida. :D

I thought the solution was to just move the game to Milwaukee? At least that is what Houston thought.

I stand corrected:thumb:
