Myself and another parents have been doing some work in the locker room this season. All that is left to do is some minor lamacoid work.Here in lies the problem I need info for the lamacoids.

 

What years has Boyle won the district and region.

If anyone has that info and I'm sure they do I would certainly appreciate it.

You're memory is spot on.

 

Somerset had something like 400 yards of offense and Boyle had about 200. RB Scott Stephens had about 201 of them himself.

 

The Rebels scored on a KO return and a couple of long pass plays. The Jumpers had about 4 or so Turnovers as well.

 

Stephens scored with about :23 left and went for 2 and the win (sound familiar Rebel? :cry:). But instead of letting Stephens carry it they ran an option and the QB (Neikerk ?) was stopped about a yard short by Todd Noe and Billy West. Like Average Joe said, it was one of the most exciting High School games I ever saw and/or broadcasted. :thumb:

 

BTW, looking at your avatar, when did you ever get assigned and RB/QB number??? It sure wasn't foreshadowing was it?

 

There was also a punt return for a touchdown. I was standing on the other end of the field on the 2 pt. conversion play and I watched the hole open and remember saying outloud to my buddy next to me, "he's in." A second later a linebacker, Billy West, stood the qb up and Todd Noe finished him off. I've seen many, many football games since but when people ask me the best I ever saw that's the first one to pop into my head.

That was 1984, not 1983. I was on that Somerset team, Boyle had a couple of blocked kicks and played us very tough at Somerset.

 

I played for Boyle in that game and remember breaking ice with my hand when I would get in my stance. Also remember it was possibly the worst national anthem I have ever heard. Trumpet solo if I'm not mistaken. Funny the things you remember.:lol:

I was in the broadcast booth that night and I've always ranked that Jumper team up there as one of the best teams never to win a State Title. It was just a night when Boyle made the one extra big play to get a win by the slimmest of margins. It was the opposite of the year before when Boyle dominated the stats and lost to Somerset in OT. I know it was heartbreaking for those Jumpers because I felt similarly about a certain 9-1 Boyle team.

 

Ahhh....you guys make me want to cry! My brother was the QB and everytime I go to the Boyle County field, I feel as if I pick up a piece of my heart I left there in 81. Thanks for the comments on that Jumper team. :cry:
