Heard the Red Card in the first minute of OT against the CovCath player had a huge effect on the out come of the game! 20 minutes of 11v10 for HHS would do that. I also was told it was a cheap call. Wasn't at the game but this is what I was told.....

Again wasn't at the game! Why? In overtime, and after playing the entire game to give a red card out for what I was told was nothing more than was going on for the entire game is cheap. Yellow yes, red in overtime? If it was an extremely hard foul, or it was a cheap shot then yes, but...... What I was told the play was nothing more than what had gone on for the entire game.....

Counting football over the past 2 years and this game, that pushes it to 102-0 for HHS v. CovCath!!

I did listen to the game but the source was from a parent who was at the game!

 

No problem with HHS winining the game, but the call was weak! Coached far too many club (select) teams, and have never seen a Red given out in the OT of a match! Now after saying that I have seen kids get their second yellow card and of course put their team down one player, but just haven't seen a Red card given in a OT game..... For those who aren't big into football (soccer) the only time there is OT is in tournament games! Regular season games do end in ties!

Whether it was a good call or not, I have no idea because I wasn't there.

 

However, I do not think that officals should swallow their whistles in overtime (or around the goal), both which happen routinely in soccer.

Why was it cheap?

 

The player was going for the ball. I talked to CCH's head coach who is the nicest, most honest guy on earth. If it deserved a red card, if anyone would admit it, he would and he even said he's been coaching soccer for a long time and knows 100% that it was if anything at all, a yellow card. He added if he was the referee in the regional finals against two rivals in a clean game throughout two halves and 1 full overtime, there's no way that he would have pulled the red card in this situation. And I know you're just going to say well the coach is obviously going to say that but if you take my word for anything, coach Herstenberg is the most honest, down to earth guy you'll ever meet.

Even the HHS coach said in the paper it had a huge impact on the final. Either way hats off to HHS.
