BC won by 16 at CCH last year with Shover, Maile, and Isler all playing, and Boone returns 4 starters. I guess the season will tell.

 

Best game BC played all year, and was the worst game CovCath played all year.

I gotta go with Wildcatfan on this one. Even though the impact player is returning, they lack experience overall. Shover and the returning player cant win games by themselves. BC seems to have tons of varsity experience and very good players who IMO will surprise many this year and lock up that number 2 spot. Heck they could even knock off the big DOGs on a hot shooting night.

 

Only time will tell.

You could be correct but with all that talent BC has, even with Flannery (who is now gone), they didn't make it out of their District last year! Of course St. Henry is gone replaced by Cooper, so it should be much, much easier for BC to get to the Ninth this year!

I am not saying CCH wont be right there in the top 3-4 teams all season all I am saying is the JV'ers who are now moving up to Varsity need to prove they can support the 2 studs. This wont be determined until atleast midseason. I heard CCH had a very good JV squad so should be interesting.

 

Boone did underachieve in the District Tourney but that I attribute to inexperience in a true game that matters. I would say atleast 3 of those kids have competed against nationally ranked players in AAU ball and they should play more like Seniors rather than Juniors this season.

 

Holmes still is the leader and especially if they get great point guard play from Riley.

Agree with all you have said. Cov Cath did have a good JV squad last season. So did Holmes and Boone.

Didn't HC beat Cov Cath and Boone JV and only lose by around 5 to Holmes JV.

And those players were actual contributors on varsity so it is not like they are anything new to the varsity squad. We'll see how it all plays out though.

I don't know about "run all over everyone" but I do agree Holmes is still the hands down favorite. A lot of talent down there in Covington that really no team in nky will be able to match up with player for player.

 

Maile IMO was the most impressive kid I saw from CCH last year though against Holmes. He was the only player who was physical and athletic enough to rebound with Holmes both offensively and defensively.

 

On the flip side though, how will the addition of Maile affect the team chemistry? I think they are more TALENTED with Maile, but not sure they're necessarily a better TEAM with him. His shot selection at times hurts his team.

 

At this point, I'd still give BC the edge at #2 with CCH being a VERY Close #3 or 2b.

I don't think Counts actually played JV at all. Maybe a game or two at the end of the season. I think they were without Isler and possibly Ives. Not sure again and it will be interesting to see how the game between HC and CCH goes. I don't count out HC at all don't get me wrong. I know basketball well enough to know anything can happen and I just hope it is a great game!

I wouldn't put too much stock in preseason games though. Holmes will be rotating a lot of players as only 4 of the 5 starting positions at this point are set in stone. The 5th and final spot is still up for grabs.
