Didn't HC beat Cov Cath and Boone JV and only lose by around 5 to Holmes JV.

JV is so over used in previewing for seasons. HC had a good JV team yes, but HC's JV team lost to Beechwood's JV team. I don't think that JV basketball means varsity success because the speeds of the game are different. Also didn't Boone's sophomores all start varsity last year?

I agree. A lot of times the best sophomores don't play JV and some of the juniors who don't start varsity will play JV so they can still get work every night. (See Riley, D. Johnson, and Slusher of Holmes last year)

 

I wouldn't use what JV teams did as an indication of who the top teams will be the following year. Too many variables to factor in.

I don't think Counts actually played JV at all. Maybe a game or two at the end of the season. I think they were without Isler and possibly Ives. Not sure again and it will be interesting to see how the game between HC and CCH goes. I don't count out HC at all don't get me wrong. I know basketball well enough to know anything can happen and I just hope it is a great game!

 

HC vs CCH will be interesting this year. I still have to say that the Colonels are the heavy favorites, but I'll be rooting for the Indians.

Now that CCH has Maile back, I would almost certainly take CCH. We will just have to wait and see.

Yeah they will be the favorites for sure and would have been with out Maile. I still think it will be a great game and a great atmosphere.

Boone's top 4 sophs started varsity the entire season and didn't play a lick of JV, and a 5th maybe played only a game or two of JV.

Oh believe me I know. I was actually at the game. =] I just was offering up the fact that I think towards the end of the year some of the JV teams better contributors ended up going strictly varsity for a while. Not sure.
