Being one of the best freshman teams doesn't exactly translate to success at the varsity level. Too many variables to factor in by the time they're seniors, such as other players developing, improving their skills, getting bigger and faster, and biggest of all the underclassmen that will be playing with those seniors.

 

Who would you replace HC with in the top 10? You can't honestly think they're better than any of the top 8 teams without Sorrell. (Holmes, Boone, CCH, Campbell, NCC, Highlands, Ryle, St Henry, Scott)

 

The only team that you'd have a legitimate point of replacing with HC would be Dixie.

 

I was just a little upset to not even see them in the top 12.

 

This team will be better then people are thinking. I know they beat Ryle in summer ball, I am not sure who else they played though.

They're a top 12 team for sure and hopefully you're right that they'll be better than people are thinking. It'd be nice to see a different team from the 35th make it to the region tournament since CCH and Holmes have dominated for so long.

True but HC beat Ryle without Giwa and Sullivan over the summer so all of those "average at best" players must have been good enough to beat Ryle who did have everyone with the exception of who you have said.

I'm not a HC or Ryle follower so I really wouldn't know who had who to be quite honest with you. I was just saying I wouldn't put too much stock in summer ball because half the time no team is at full strength because of football or other commitments by the basketball players such as summer/fall baseball. And the coach usually uses summer ball as a chance to use his younger players and see who can or can't contribute at the varsity level.

Yes I agree with you, but it seems like on here that no one is giving HC a chance before the year has even started. The players last year didn't get much of a chance to show what they could do because the offense was ran through Sorrel (sp?) which it should have been because that's how they were succesful. I think with a year of experience and a lot of player's back HC will surprise a lot of people. IMO :thumb:

Holy Cross is easily a top 12 team, Shina Giwa will be very good this season.

Giwa will be good but if he tries to do too much he'll really bring HC down. He isn't a good enough scorer to carry the team the way Sorrell did. He'll need to get EVERYONE involved in order for HC to be successful.

Exactly! As I said earlier if Giwa can gain some confidence in the players around him and not try to do it all himself this team could be very succesful. Also as I said from what I have seen from summer ball it looks as if he is already starting to gain that confidence.:thumb:

He played with Shining Star Sports-Romes. He had a very good summer. Shina is a special player in the open court. Needs to continue to improve his perimeter shooting to become a complete player.

Lloyd has a few decent players but nobody that will blow you away. Roger Herthel I believe is their best player but I could be wrong. They're not very big height wise and have small guards. A few athletic kids but nobody who's going to blow you away.

Bobby Romes will be teaching kids until he can no longer do it!!! Good man!!!
