I'm not surprised that you boys choose to use the racial card in interpreting my post. After all, the Obama camp has used it repeatedly to accuse anyone not in line with their candidate of racism. Sadly, they have gotten by with it.

 

The obvious comparison between Obama and Powell is that both are radically liberal in regard to social and economic issues. Powell is not an out and out socialist as is Obama but he is a kindred spirit.

 

But, I don't want to deprive you boys of the chance to cry "racist" as you continually do. So go for it.

The race card is a cornerstone of the Obama's campaign. Even criticism of ACORN for voter registration fraud is supposedly racist "code."

 

Anybody who believes that there is no peer pressure on high profile African-Americans like Powell to support Obama is not being honest with themselves. However, Powell has always been a bit of a poltiical opportunist and anytime that a potential cabinet member waits until just days before the election and then endorses the candidate who is leading by a wide margin, you have to wonder about his motives.

 

When Powell retired from the military, he allowed speculation about his political affiliation to go unanswered for a long time before announcing that he was a Republican. The fact that McCain strongly criticised the Iraq War effort while Powell was a part of the administration and then gave so much praise to Gen. Petreaus could not have made Gen. Powell very happy. I am surprised that it took so long for Powell to endorse Obama because I do not believe that Powell would have been given a spot in a McCain administration anyway.

The sour grapes treatment of Colin Powell is thus underway I see. Powell is not "radically liberal" in his social and economic views. I don't know where you got that. That's not how it happened. You made the statement, were then asked several times to explain yourself and you didn't. That's when I made the statement that it appears you were making a racial connection and that's why you left the statement so open-ended.

Actually, I was using the "socialist card' because that should be the concern of those who actually financially support this country. You boys (or girls, if you prefer), chose to drag up the overused "race card". And, of course, your card trumps my card in present day political correctness.

 

On a positive note, I would strongly recommend that those who actually have accumulated some financial security do some serious financial planning prior to January 20, 2009. Surely, you boys and girls cannot find fault with this suggestion.
