I don't think that Watts makes McCreary. I do think, however, he is huge in their success. If I'm correct, Watts also plays defense for the Raiders and has had some very good plays. I think McCreary was favored in that game before Watts' injury and I think not knowing they had him with them, McCreary wasn't ready. A lot of times, Watts bails them out. Nothing against McCreary, but he's just that good of a player.

 

Good luck to McCreary and Bell in this game. I like to root underdog and McCreary, so I'll cheer for the Raiders.

Bell County by as much as Dudley wants. He has a great team. McCreary's seems to lost its edge without Watts.

No offense to you House of Pain but if you can't stop Pineville's ground game how in the world can you stop Bell's??????? You can only play 11 on the field at a time.

 

I don't believe I ever said we would be able to stop Bell's ground game just that our "game plan" is to make them throw the ball to beat us. If Bell Co was preparing to play the IN. Colts Dudley would develope a game plan wouldn't he? As for the Pineville game, well that wasn't MC playing that night at least it wasn't the MC team I know.

Just looked that stats in the paper for Pineville vs. MCC. They had nearly as much total offense against MCC as they had the other games combined. As Lee Corso would say "Whoooa."

That just goes to show you that the Raiders were not playing like themselves. I know someone is going to say "yeah because Watts is out" well Watts isn't even close to be our leading tackler on the team that would be a sophmore LBer and he isn't the leader in INT's either, that belongs to a soph. as well. Bottom line is we have 2 leaders out with injuries Watts and Rusty Neal a senior and we didn;t respond very well emotionally which lead to very poor play. Hopefully we will get over it and start playing more like normal and hopefully we won't get any one hurt in th Bell game!

Why do Mcreary Co fans discount how good the Watts kid is? I think he is the best athlete in the mountains. So what if a bulk of the other kids stats came from overplaying the Watts kid?

I think they realize his contribution and importance to the team and don't want the other kids to quit because he's out. It does seem that way sometimes though. :confused:

Everyone in McCreary Co loves Aaron Watts. He is definately the best athlete in the mountains. But, that is not what people are saying. Everyone keeps saying that he is the team all by himself and not even Aaron thinks that. Anyone who knows anything about team sports knows that 1 person can't do it by themselves. Everyone in McCreary Co knows that the team is much better when he is playing but we also know we have a team that can compete and win when Aaron is out, just like now.

Trust me when I say that we do not discount Watts at all. We are very glad that everyone over plays him. We know that he is a special young man and we miss him greatly right now. However, we have to coach the kids we have that are able to play right now and we (the coaches) have all the confidence in the world in the players we have and we know they are all special in their own way and all they have to do to be successfull is have confidence in themselves and play hard every down! Go Raiders!

Because of the fact that everyone has harped on the fact that Watts is our team, we have had to try and over-stress the fact that we have a lot of great players other than Watts. I guess this makes it seem like we down play him but believe me when I say we understand Watts's role in our program and nothing will make us happier than to see his return!

I couldn't have said it better my friend. One man can make a team better, but never does one man make a team. There is not to many teams out there that losing their best athlete wouldn;t change the dynamics of their team. However, every coach will tell you at times like that other player can and usually will step up to fill the void. That is all we are saying, our other kids are very good athletes and very talented football players and we want them to step-up and play like we know they can!

Well Bronco, I think you are taking everyone that isnt from McCreary County wrong. All these good people can see and know about your program is that before Watts got hurt your team was a heavy favorite to beat P'ville. Then you guys get took to the woodshed by them.

I think I will chime in here. Yes, Pineville took us to the old woodshed last week and it had a lot to do with Watts being out but mostly the mental part of it with the rest of the team. I believe we could have and should have won that game and that is not taking anything away from Pineville. They came out ready to play and they won fair and square through superior play on that night. Now, for what I really want to get to is your last statement: we play Bell Co tomorrow night and we have no pipe-dreams where this game is concerned. However, we expect our players to come out strong and aggressive and play to win and play all 4 quarters. If our players will do that then we (the coaches) will be satisfied with their performance because playing hard and confident for 4 quarters is what we have to do if we want to have a chance to win against Campbellsville and whoever we play in the

1st round of the playoffs! So you see, we are looking for a lot out of our players tomorrow night but winning isn't our stogest point of emphasis. So to say Bronco99's last stament will be proven or disproven by winning or losing against the best team in 4-A is kind of a stretch!

I think that is being unfair. I am pretty sure they would not move the ball against Bell with or without Watts. They may have been able to manage one score with Watts, but it still would be a blow out. I doubt they score in this ball game.
