Other Obama supporters have threatened critics with criminal prosecution. In September, St. Louis County Circuit Attorney Bob McCulloch and St. Louis City Circuit Attorney Jennifer Joyce warned citizens that they would bring criminal libel prosecutions against anyone who made statements against Mr. Obama that were "false." I had been under the impression that the Alien and Sedition Acts had gone out of existence in 1801-'02. Not so, apparently, in metropolitan St. Louis. Similarly, the Obama campaign called for a criminal investigation of the American Issues Project when it ran ads highlighting Mr. Obama's ties to Mr. Ayers.

I though HB was "undecided"...

What's the news here? Slander is a criminal offense.

We are barreling toward a thugocracy complete with Obama truth squads. Anybody who sees no problem with a political candidate who could be appointing judges and an Attorney General in a few months attempting to preemptively silence critics is simply not thinking clearly.

Chicago politics need to be restricted to Chicago. The cancer is spreading.

The problem is when the opposition starts manufacturing lies.

Like when Obama called the National Right to Life, Jill Stanek, and others "liars" for telling the truth about his votes in the Illinois Senate? Should Obama be prosecuted for the lies that he has told?

We have the right to free speech. When we abuse that right, then libel and slander laws exist to deal with damaged reputations. Enlisting law enforcement officials and prosecutors to intimidate critics before the fact is thuggery, plain and simple. There is no excuse for it and there is no way that the behavior should be defended in a free society.

Obama is the shadiest politician that's come along in my lifetime, I still can't believe we have people that defend his every move.

If they were "lies" people would be sued, kinda like if the steriods scandal.....no lawsuits there either.

Alright! We're in the Matrix! :thumb:

Not even close, and I'm no fan of his.

Were you alive when Nixon was president ?

The truth about his record is not a lie. The voting record is open for the public to see. The lack of ANY legislative accomplishments is glaringly absent. Both sides have stretched the truth, you can look on the fact checking sites and see that.

I remember hearing Obama speak several years ago and I thought 'I really like this guy. He has a future.' Now that I am beginning to learn more about him, I am extremely uncomfortable with the thoughts of him being in the White House, especially if the likes of Pelosi, Reid and Franks and giving him every program he wants and that the American taxpayers cannot afford to foot the bill for.

Do we need to change government? Absolutely. But I don't believe that the path he is wanting is the best one for the nation.
