Tommy Bowden fired at Clemson

Featured Replies

That didn't take long...what was thought to be a potential national championship season, has gone bad.

Whipped by Bama, loss at home to Under Armour U, and then a road loss to Wake.

That Arkansas job offer sure looks a whole lot better now.

Where will he end up at now? Maybe a coordinator job.

Nobody did less with more....

I guess that's called "Ray Ray Karma"

I thought they would have done this at the end of the year, but I guess they couldn't wait.

Good move by Clemson, IMO. Because, had they waited, Bowden would have got his guys going for their usual second half run which "saved his job" and had everybody overhyping Clemson for the next season.

That cycle had to be broken.

I just heard on ESPN, Clemson QB Cullen Harper aparently sent ESPN's Joe Schad a text message that read in part "he got what he deserved"!!! Wow! Harper had been benched by Bowden after the poor start to the season.

Clemson's recruiting has already taken a hard shot...

Meanwhile, two highly touted recruits have dropped Clemson from their lists in the wake of Bowden's ouster, according to JC Shurburtt, who covers Southeast recruiting for ESPN.com. Safeties Craig Loston from Aldine, Texas and Devonte Hollomon from Rock Hill, S.C., both said they are looking elsewhere. Loston is the No. 1 safety on the ESPN150 list of safeties and is No. 8 overall; Hollomon is No. 3 on the safeties list and No. 20 overall.

BTW, some sites are saying he resigned instead of getting fired...

Clemson was a preseason #5 team going into the season, 2 seasons ago. They ended up getting beaten by Kentucky in the Music City Bowl.

They returned virtually everyone from that team for last year, and had a disappointing year again. And again, they returned a lot from that team and are off to a poor start.

See ya later Tommy.

And somebody tell Rich Brooks / Joker Phillips that those safeties are now back on the market. Joker does well in SC....

I was thinking(wishful) the same. Steve Brown and Joker both should be trying to get on board. Any word where the kid from Carolina will be looking?

Clemson has been hyped for the past two seasons, and have flopped. The ACC hasn't been the strongest of conferences, and Bowden's bunch haven't lived up to their ink.

A mod can change the title to 'resigned' instead of fired...
