The only games that matter now are the Holmes and the playoff games, all the other games just get you ready to play in those games.

 

Others might like to see the schedule cheapen, but me, I go with tradition, and traditionly CovCath plays the best year in and year out and so far it has worked. Having a schedule that alllows you to go 9-1 or 9-2 means nothing if it doesn't get you ready to play in the playoffs.

 

 

Is there somewhere in between playing the Little Sisters of the Poor and playing teams that are going to kill you?

lol, relax, it's ELDER. Did you expect them to go over and blow them out and upset the entire Cincinnati area?

 

No, more than likely, to my displeasure, they probably will not be state champions, but they will make a run in playoffs. They are a good football team. They only look down because they are getting beat by Highlands, Mooney and Elder. If that makes them down, then NKY is down. :jump:

 

Don't mean that they should be beating the teams that they are playing but CC hasn't been the CC they used to be.

Someone needs to tell me what possible good can come from CovCath continuing to schedule like this. Seriously, I hope Coach B. tones the scheduling down a notch. This game does absolutely no good for the CovCath program (unless you are talking $$$).

Dead on. Covcath has taken some lumps this year but in all honestly they are still one of the top 5 teams in nky. Highlands, Mooney, Beechwood and Elder really are just that good. We all have to remember this isn't the 2006 Colonels that won state.

 

These are still a great group of young men who bust their tails everyday in practice and for some to criticize not only them but also the coaches is flat out ridiculous. They will still likely be the #2 seed as they should beat Holmes in two weeks, and they will likely see the Bluebirds again in the region championship.

After I wrote my above comment about the schedule, I got to thinking of the games that theoldguy played in that we (CovCath) got killed in. CC and CCH24 (or any CovCath BGP's poster who wore CovCath across your chest) from reading your posts I get the opinion that you both might have wore a uniform with CovCath on it at one time in your lives, so what did you think of cheapening the schedule? Me? While no one likes to get killed in a game, those games were the ones that you found out a lot about not only yourself but your teamates. Personally, I hated playing the teams we blew out, as it wasn't any fun beating the sister of the poor by a ton. Here hoping the Colonels continue to play the best because we (CovCath) are one of the best!

 

Scheduling is an art. I think one or two "stretch" games is all a team needs. CovCath has or will play six teams that are contenders for their respective state championships:

 

Youngstown Cardinal Mooney

Cincy Elder

Highlands

Louisville St. X

Beechwood

Newport Catholic

I'd like the bolded part to happen as it would be a home game for the Birds, but I just don't see CovCath beating Johnson Central in the 2nd game from what I'm hearing and reading about Johnson Central. I hope I'm wrong about that.

Yeah but CCH hasnt shown any signs of success against any of the big teams. Its one thing to schedule the good teams and give them a run for the money, or execute in certain areas. But CovCath has been blown out everytime, and really havent shown anything. All that does is affect the players chemistry and minds, because wheres the fun when you are coming out and being beat 40-0 every night?
